UNDIP, Semarang (June 24, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) hosted the UNDIP Grand Career Exhibition (UGCE) 2025 under the theme “Build Your Future: Connect, Learn, Succeed” at the Muladi Dome on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 24–25, 2025. The event is part of UNDIP’s mission to produce outstanding and competitive graduates. In addition to a job fair featuring dozens of booths from top Indonesian companies, UGCE 2025 offered talk shows with speakers from UNDIP alumni, walk-in interviews, and Career Counseling Services led by professionals from UNDIP’s Faculty of Psychology.
UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. officially opened the event and welcomed UNDIP alumni and students. “Here, you are exposed to the working world. In order to survive, you have to be a qualified job-seeker or be ready to run your own business,” he said.
UGCE 2025 also partnered with the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (KP2MI), and on Thursday (June 26, 2025), UNDIP will host the “Global Migrant Fair” and officially inaugurate the Migrant Center on campus. Prof. Suharnomo said, “Good jobs are available both domestically and abroad. KP2MI and UNDIP will also welcome the Minister of P2MI, Abdul Karding, for a talk show on overseas employment opportunities.”
The Rector also expressed appreciation to UNDIP alumni. “Thank you especially to those who attended and completed the UNDIP Tracer Study survey. May this be your lucky break, and I hope everything goes well,” he added.
Director of Student and Alumni Affairs at UNDIP, Edy Surahmad, S.Pd., M.Si., who also chaired the organizing committee, explained that the event serves as a platform to share career information with alumni and students while offering companies a space to communicate targeted strategies and opportunities.
Also in attendance was Dr. Sutrisno, S.K.M., M.H.Kes., Head of the Semarang City Manpower Office, who said, “On behalf of the Semarang City Government, we thank you for this initiative and are proud to be part of UNDIP’s job fair. Hopefully, this collaboration inspires youth and empowers UNDIP graduates!”
The UGCE 2025 series continued with a talk show titled “Alumni Sharing Session: Preparing for Career Success since Becoming a University Student.” Speakers included Dwi Setiawan Susanto, S.E., M.Si., Ak, Director General of Promotion and Utilization of Overseas Employment Opportunities at KP2MI; Tejo Wihardiyono, S.T., M.M., EVP for Transmission in Sumatera, Jawa, Madura, and Bali at PT PLN (Persero); and Roy Wibisono Anang Prabowo, S.Si., CEO and Owner of PT Naruna Ceramic, Naruna Space, and PT Gyant Kreatif Indonesia. The session was moderated by Dr. Ir. Abdul Syakur, S.T., M.T., IPU, Deputy Director of Student and Alumni Services at UNDIP.
Dwi Setiawan, an alumnus of UNDIP’s Faculty of Economics and Business and member of the UNDIP Alumni Association (IKA UNDIP), encouraged alumni to be proactive across sectors. In his presentation “Job Opportunities Abroad,” he offered tips and procedures for working overseas. KP2MI currently facilitates safe job placements in 100 countries across domestic and professional sectors. “First, meet the qualifications and skills for your target job. UNDIP students and alumni can consult at the UNDIP Migrant Center starting tomorrow after the inauguration. You can also pursue training and language certification in that area. Understand your destination country and seize the opportunity to gain international experience,” he said.
Tejo Wihardiyono, a PLN executive and graduate of the Faculty of Engineering at UNDIP, presented “Basic Attitudes and Performance for Careers in State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).” He discussed how PT PLN is addressing Net Zero Emission 2060 targets, business development, and technology adaptation. “Competence in areas like finance, operations, HR, and technology, along with open collaboration, is essential to meet company goals and deliver impact,” he said.
The third speaker, Roy Wibisono, an alumnus of UNDIP’s Faculty of Science and Mathematics and now a successful ceramic entrepreneur, discussed “Planning Your Career Since College.” He urged students to begin mapping their careers early, though he noted that the real journey starts after graduation. “Wherever you are, success is in your hands. Keep moving forward, UNDIP and Indonesia!” he concluded.
Outside the main events, UGCE 2025’s Career Counseling Corner, organized in collaboration with the UNDIP’s Faculty of Psychology, also attracted a large crowd. Dr. phil Dian Veronika Sakti Kaloeti, S.Psi., M.Psi., a lecturer in psychology at UNDIP, said in an interview with the Public Communication team that although this was UNDIP’s first time offering on-site career counseling, many participants queued for coaching sessions.
“Many alumni said that discussions like these are very much needed. Graduates need alignment between their interests, talents, and job targets. We walk through what they’ve done, their plans, and whether their portfolios match industry standards—from internships to employment. Job seekers need concrete conversations to avoid struggling out there,” Dr. Dian Veronika explained.
With its range of events and services, UGCE 2025 aims to serve as a vital information hub for participants—whether they are alumni seeking job opportunities or students looking for future insights. The job fair, walk-in interviews, and career counseling services will continue on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, featuring company presentations by several state-owned banks.
