“Rosi On Location” by Kompas TV Held at UNDIP, Featuring Inspirational Innovators

UNDIP, Semarang (November 26, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro successfully hosted the “Kampus Kompas TV: Rosi On Location” program, held at the Muladi Dome Auditorium, UNDIP Tembalang Campus, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Carrying the theme Endless Innovation, the event opened up a fresh, creative, and interactive public dialogue space. National figures from various sectors were present to inspire students in developing new perspectives on the nation’s dynamics and challenges. This program was also part of UNDIP’s 68th Anniversary series under the spirit of Innovation for the Nation.

The event was led by senior journalist and CEO of Kompas TV, Rosianna Silalahi, and featured speakers including Prof. Brian Yuliarto, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D. (Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of Indonesia), Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. (Rector of Universitas Diponegoro), Mohamad Jamaludin (Environmental Activist), Raim Laode (Musician/Comedian), and Ciptaningtias (Head of Pentingsari Tourism Village Management). This collaboration offered students the opportunity to learn directly from national changemakers.

During his address, UNDIP Rector Prof. Suharnomo expressed pride in the achievements of UNDIP students, who continue to bring honor to the university through various national events—from Pilmapres (Outstanding Student Selection) and energy-efficient car innovations to academic, vocational, and MTQ competitions. He emphasized that these accomplishments prove that UNDIP students are a creative generation that is not only courageous in creating but also upholds integrity and solidarity.

“All of you are the pride of UNDIP. Your continuous achievements provide us with a great deal of energy to keep creating inspirational spaces like today. Enjoy this opportunity to learn from the distinguished figures here, as this is the moment to strengthen your creative spirit and contribute to society,” he said.

In the interactive session, Minister Prof. Brian highlighted the importance of students being brave enough to experiment and view research as a process-oriented toward societal solutions. He stressed that universities should be a space where science, collaboration, and public needs intersect.

“Universities must not work in isolation. Innovation must be born in laboratories and present in everyday life. Students are the drivers, inventors, makers, and agents of change who must be supported with the right ecosystem,” he stated.

He also praised UNDIP for effectively bridging academic research with industrial and societal needs.

The sharing session presented real stories of dreams, perseverance, and social impact. Ciptaningtias recounted her 17-year journey transforming Pentingsari Tourism Village from an underdeveloped area into a national model, emphasizing that limitations are not a barrier for those with shared dreams and patience.

From Cilacap, Mohamad Jamaludin shared how limited access to electricity and clean water encouraged him to create hybrid power generators and tidal-flood early warning systems. For him, innovation is a form of service: when it benefits the community, that benefit returns through goodwill and prayers.

Meanwhile, musician and comedian Raim Laode emphasized that creativity is born from unease. For him, adaptation is not merely following trends but understanding change without losing identity. His message offered a new perspective that innovation can emerge through various media, including arts and culture.

In his report, UNDIP Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Collaboration, and Public Communication, Wijayanto, Ph.D., expressed appreciation to all parties, including Kompas TV and the more than 3,500 students who participated. He emphasized that this event is part of a strategy to strengthen public communication and bring campus research closer to community needs.

“A campus is not only a place to study but an epicenter of innovation to address the challenges of the times. Every research effort and learning process must generate real solutions. Thank you to everyone for your hard work and collaboration. Let us use this moment to remind ourselves that innovation is the lifeblood of UNDIP,” he said.

Through the implementation of “Rosi On Location,” UNDIP reinforces its commitment as a dignified and impactful institution by providing a cross-sector dialogue space that enriches student insight and strengthens the innovation ecosystem. This activity also supports the Diktisaintek Berdampak program, which focuses on utilizing research and innovation to generate social impact. (Public Communication/UNDIP/DHW)
