Strengthening Reputation in Southeast Asia, UNDIP Welcomes an Academic Visit from Mindanao State University

UNDIP, Semarang (21/1) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has increasingly established itself as one of Southeast Asia’s universities with a growing reputation. Today, UNDIP receives an academic visit from Mindanao State University (Philippines), which conducted a benchmarking study of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education this week.

The Mindanao State University delegation included the MSU System President, Atty. Paisalin P.D. Tago, CPA; Executive Secretary, Office of the President, Sittie Norhaya A. Tago, CPA; Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Minerva-Saminah M. Naga; Vice Chancellor for Research & Extension, Dr. Annie Mae C. Berowa; along with faculty deans.

The Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Communication of UNDIP, Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., personally welcomed the Mindanao State University delegation on January 20, 2026, at UNDIP’s Semarang campus. On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the UNDIP–Mindanao State University agenda continued with a “Benchmarking Session and Academic Engagements”, held at the Rector’s Meeting Room, Widya Puraya Building, UNDIP Semarang, at 10:00 a.m.

The event was opened by the Director of Reputation, Partnership, and Global Connectivity of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiyanto, S.T., M.Sc., IPU., who initiated discussions on research and international collaboration. “Welcome to all delegates of Mindanao State University. Let us exchange ideas, and hopefully, through this meeting, we can realize cooperation and produce leading research in the future,” he said.

Pulung Widhi Hari Hananto, S.H., M.H., LL.M., chaired the discussion session. The Vice President for Academic Affairs of Mindanao State University, Dr. Minerva-Saminah M. Naga, expressed her gratitude to the UNDIP delegation. “This is our first international benchmarking activity. We hope to gain insights into international academic and research practices,” she stated.

The Head of the Institute for Educational Development and Quality Assurance (LP2MP) of UNDIP, Prof. Anis Chariri, S.E., M.Com., Ph.D., Akt., explained that LP2MP UNDIP formulates policies and quality standards for higher education, with regular reviews through Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) and External Quality Assurance (EQA). “UNDIP has eight education standards, three research standards, three community service standards, as well as twelve standards adopted from BAN-PT requirements,” he explained. In addition, many UNDIP study programs have achieved international accreditation standards, including ASIIN, FIBAA, and IABEE.

Furthermore, the Director of Reputation, Partnership, and Global Connectivity of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiyanto, S.T., M.Sc., IPU., stated that UNDIP is currently in the World-Class University (WCU) Maturation Phase (2025–2029), following the Research University Strengthening Phase (2020–2024). “Based on the QS World University Rankings, in 2025 UNDIP is ranked 624, an improvement from its 2024 position of 725.”

Upholding the values of ‘Noble and Valuable’ in academia, UNDIP supports its lecturers in producing scientific journals indexed by Scopus. UNDIP also promotes activities that support citations, such as postdoctoral programs, scientific consortia, and international conferences.

Also present at the event were the Head of LP2MP UNDIP, Prof. Anis Chariri, S.E., M.Com., Ph.D., Akt.; the Deputy Director of Reputation, Partnership, and Global Connectivity, Pulung Widhi Hari Hananto, S.H., M.H., LL.M.; and the deans of the Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences (FPP), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), and Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of UNDIP.

The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, which also included discussions among faculty deans from both higher education institutions.
