UNDIP, Semarang (19/2) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has once again achieved a proud international milestone. According to the Nature Index 2025 Research Leaders ranking, UNDIP ranks 6th nationally among Indonesia’s top institutions for high-quality scientific publications.
In this ranking, UNDIP stands alongside leading universities in the national top ten, including Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).
The Nature Index 2025 Research Leaders is a global research ranking published by Nature Index, a data and indicator system developed by high-impact scientific journals under the Nature Portfolio. The ranking highlights institutions, countries, and organizations that are most productive in scientific research across the natural and health sciences.
Nature Index compiles publication data from approximately 145 of the most prestigious international journals in science and health. The “Research Leaders” ranking is based on publication data from January 1 to December 31 of the previous year. Thus, the 2025 ranking reflects publication contributions throughout 2024.
Assessment is conducted using key metrics, such as count (the number of indexed articles) and share (the authorship contribution to publications). These indicators measure the extent of an institution’s contribution to high-quality global scientific research.

The Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., stated that this achievement reflects UNDIP’s consistent efforts in strengthening its research ecosystem and international collaborations.
“This ranking is not merely a number, but a reflection of the hard work of our academic community in producing research recognized at the global level. UNDIP continues to foster a collaborative, productive, and impactful research culture, ensuring that our scientific contributions remain relevant both to the international community and to national development,” said Prof. Suharnomo.
Nature Index serves as an important indicator used by universities, research institutions, governments, and policymakers to assess research strength and global scientific competitiveness. In the 2025 global ranking, renowned institutions such as Harvard University and various research institutions in China dominate the top positions, reflecting increasingly intense global research competition.
At Universitas Diponegoro, research is not merely about publication output, but about making tangible contributions to the advancement of knowledge and providing solutions to global challenges—knowledge recognized worldwide yet grounded in service to society, a consistent step toward Noble and Valuable UNDIP.
