Diponegoro University (Undip) held a routine Morning Ceremony in this morning. This routine activity that must be followed by all levels of officers and employees in Undip was held virtually through Zoom meeting platform on Monday (23/08) at 08.00 AM.
Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M. Hum., lead the process of this ceremony. On this morning’s occasion, in his speech, Prof. Yos conveyed several things regarding disaster mitigation in the Diponegoro University environment. “One of our efforts in working professionally is our preparation related with all emergency problems,” explained Prof. Yos.
With all kinds of possible emergency/disaster conditions that can be occur, prevention act is necessary to overcome any impacts that may occur. “One of our professional attitudes is to be prepared of all possibilities that may happen because of disaster. Therefore, there is a new Organization and Work Procedure that specifically takes care of health, work safety, and the environment,” explained Prof. Yos.
In addition, to minimize the impact that will occur if there is an emergency problem, it is necessary to hold trainings on disaster management. “Sometimes we ignore all things that might happen, for example whether we have been carrying out disaster drills, be it fires, earthquakes, or other disasters. Please conduct programmed exercises such as simulation to deal with disasters,” said Prof. Yos.
“We must be ready to do all of that, so we ask all unit leaders to periodically carry out inspections of occupational health and safety equipment in their environments,” he continued.
It is hoped that by conducting training and checking work safety equipment periodically, all units will be ready to face the disaster conditions and can minimize the negative impacts that will occur.
Furthermore, Prof. Yos explained that Undip always prioritizes good environmental governance. It is proven that Undip has succeeded in being ranked the 2nd best nationally as a Sustainable Campus according to the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2020. “In environmental matters too, Alhamdulillah, Undip has listed as the best number 2 in UI GreenMetric. So let’s properly maintain, preserved, and develop our environment as well as possible,” he concluded. (Dhany-PR)
