On November 15th 2021, Diponegoro University received a visit from the team of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This visit was limited and implemented strict health protocols. This activity was not only intended to establish friendship between two higher education institutions but also to share knowledge between UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and Diponegoro University (Undip). The visiting participants from UIN Jakarta included the Chair of LP2M, Prof. Jajang Jahroni, M.A, Ph.D.; Head of PLKI, Drs. Dadi Darmadi, M.A.; and the staff of the International Cooperation Service Center (PLKI).
The event began with remarks by the Head of Undip International Office (KUI), Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D. and continued with a presentation about Undip by the Deputy Head of KUI, Diastama Anggita Ramadhan, S.H., LLM. The answer greeting was then given by Prof. Jajang Jahroni, M.A., Ph.D. from UIN Jakarta. “We thank Undip for accepting our visit and hopefully we can exchange opinions, especially to share input on the management of international students at Undip,” said Prof. Jajang Jahroni, M.A., Ph.D.
The discussion was continued by Drs. Dadi Darmadi, M.A. where he conveyed three main things that he wanted to learn from Undip, namely the management of internationalization, the international student admission process and also the immigration mechanism.
The discussion session focused on the university’s branding strategy, especially at related units that deal with international students in facing the transition period of the Covid-19 pandemic. In managing internationalization, coordination between institutions within a university is needed in order to carry out promotions to attract international students. In addition to developing human resources, developing unique things with local wisdom at a university can also be a selling point in the international market. (DR-AS)
