Innalillahi wa innailaihi rojiun, the entire of Diponegoro University (Undip) academic community is mourning for the passing of Prof. Ir. Edy Darmawan, M.Eng. to Rahmatullahah due to illness, on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 16.45 WIB at the KRMT Wongsonegoro Hospital, Semarang. He is one of the professors of the Faculty of Engineering (FT) who is an expert in the field of urban design who completed his Master of Urban Design at Waseda University. He also served as Vice Dean III in 1996-2000.
Becoming an Exemplary Lecturer I of the Faculty of Engineering Undip in 1991 was one of his achievements. In addition, he has also received the Satya Lancana Karya Satya award for 10 years in 2000, Satya Lancana Karya Satya for 20 years in 2004, and Satya Lancana Karya Satya for 30 years in 2015 which was directly given by the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
The funeral ceremony of the late Prof. Ir. Edy Darmawan, M.Eng. was held at the SA-MWA Building Undip on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 13.00 WIB followed by a funeral procession at the Undip Tembalang Cemetery.
Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, SH., M. Hum. acted as Inspector of Funeral Ceremony. Prof. Yos gave his speech and conveyed his deepest condolences for the death of Prof. Ir. Edy Darmawan, M.Eng.
“Many things have been given by Prof. Edy to his institution and to his family. Insyaallah, Prof. Edy will get the best place by His side. That’s the point of the knowledge practiced by Prof. Edy which will become a charity.” said Prof. Yos.
Therefore Prof. Yos advised and invited all those present to continue to be enthusiastic in exploring knowledge. “To those of us who are still alive, let’s continue the struggle that has been carried out by Prof. Edy to develop the knowledge we have.” conveyed Prof. Yos.
