UNDIP Deployed Antawirya Team to Compete in 2022 Shell Eco Marathon and 2022 Energy-Efficient Car Contest

Diponegoro University (Undip) officially deployed the Antawirya Team to take part in the 2022 Shell Eco Marathon competition and the 2022 Energy-Efficient Car Contest (KMHE). The deployment was held on Wednesday (05/10) at 13.30 WIB, located at the Hall of the Dean Building, Faculty of Engineering (FT), Undip Tembalang campus.

The deployment ceremony was attended by the Dean of FT Undip and his staff, the Director of the Academic Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni, the Manager of the Student Affairs Section, and all members of the Antawirya Team.

In his speech, the Dean of FT Undip, Prof. Ir. Mochamad Agung Wibowo, M.M., M.Sc., Ph.D. gave appreciation to the Antawirya Team who will participate in the 2022 Shell Eco Marathon competition and the 2022 Energy-Efficient Car Contest (KMHE). “We appreciate the Antawirya Team who will compete in the competition, there are many lessons that could be learned in participating in the competition,” said Prof. Agung.

According to Prof. Agung, the competition could provide three valuable lessons, hone soft skills and as a means to establish networking among students at various universities, so that it becomes a valuable asset when entering the industrial world.

“Being a student must be interpreted, meaning that learning also needs to be combined with soft skills and hobbies. This competition teaches us three lessons, namely, learning to work together as a team, learning to obey the rules, and learning to understand that the industrial world will continue to advance so that we become less arrogant and continue to develop ourselves.” he explained.

“In the competition, hopefully you can establish communication and collaborate with other students, and build a network since you were a student. Besides that, what is more important is the process to become champions.” continued Prof. Agung.

Meanwhile, Director of the Academic Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni, Hanifa Maher Denny, S.KM., MPH., Ph.D. revealed that the participation of the Antawirya Team in the competition could be a source of pride as Undip students. She added that the university will continue to support and encourage all creativity and student participation in various national and international competitions.

In his report, the General Manager of the Antawirya Team, Alan Haryudanto, explained that the Undip Antawirya Team is a team from Diponegoro University Semarang which is engaged in energy-efficient cars. The Antawirya team was formed in 2013 by the Workshop Division of the Diponegoro University Mechanical Engineering Student Association.

The Antawirya Team was formed with the aim of developing environmentally friendly car design innovations and contributing to the development of energy-efficient cars in Indonesia. The team has received various proud achievements at the national and international levels.

The Antawirya team currently has two cars that will be participating in the 2022 Shell Eco Marathon competition and the 2022 Energy-Efficient Car Contest. The two cars are Gentayu which focuses on Internal Combustion Engine vehicles and Rondhan which focuses on Electric Vehicles. Gentayu and Rondhan are cars designed for mobility with an element of safety and can travel long distances with minimal energy.

The 2022 Shell Eco Marathon competition will be held on October 11-15, 2022 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit Lombok, NTB. This competition is an opportunity to develop innovative mobility solutions in designing, building, testing, and driving future vehicles that meet the elements of safety and can travel long distances using minimal energy sources.

Meanwhile, the 2022 Energy-Efficient Car Contest will be held on October 31 – November 4, 2022 at the Gelora Bung Tomo Circuit in Surabaya, East Java. This competition is a national level economical car competition organized by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with the host universities.

“We would like to thank Diponegoro University, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering for the financial and moral assistance, as well as the facility assistance so that we can participate in the 2022 Shell Eco Marathon competition and the 2022 Energy Efficient Car Contest.” said Alan.

Furthermore, Alan hoped that the Antawirya Team can continue to develop, contribute its potential in the field of energy-efficient cars, and participate in competitions that can glorify the name of Diponegoro University in the national and international arena.
