DWP UNDIP Studied the Role of Muslims in Indonesian Independence

To fill the 78th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of Diponegoro University held a lecture with the theme Exemplifying the Role of Muslims in Indonesian Independence, Friday (18/8).

The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Retno Saraswati, S.H., M.Hum., opened the event. She was also a shohibul bait for recitation activities. The resource person for the recitation was Ustad Muhyidin, S.Ag., M.Ag., M.H.

In his material, Ustad Muhyidin said that the independence we are now enjoying is the result of the struggle of many previous figures in fighting for the nation’s independence by risking both material, mind, and energy.

“The role of Muslims in Indonesia’s independence was huge. Many Indonesian Muslim leaders became thinkers and pioneers in the struggle for independence. For this reason, we as citizens who enjoy the fruits of our independence should continue to fill independence with positive activities that reflect the love for the motherland,” he explained.

Furthermore, Ustad Muhyidin conveyed the message that Indonesian independence was not merely the independence given by other nations but that all of that was the result of the efforts of the Indonesian people themselves. Independence is freedom, leading us to better economic independence for all Indonesian people in the future.

“Muslims are people who do not only think about life after death but their life in a world where a good and advanced economy will bring prosperity to fellow Muslims. We are armed with knowledge and skills to live in the world and religious knowledge as the foundation for becoming good citizens and life in the world later. This recitation is a positive activity that must continue to be carried out because it reflects how good citizens fill the days of independence,” he concluded.
