In series with the commemoration of the 66th Anniversary of Diponegoro University, the Rector of Undip, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum. directly inaugurated the Pilar Cendekia in the name of Prof. Dr. H.M. Syarifuddin, S.H., M.H. (Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia), Sunday (15/10). The Pilar Cendekia is located in front of the area between KPRI Undip and Undip Student Center, Tembalang.
In his speech, the Rector said that Undip has the principles of Mikul Duwur Mendem Jero, one of which is respecting professors and figures who have provided inspiration and good examples so they can be good examples for the community.
“This year, Undip inaugurated 52 professors. Professors are role models, as uswatun hasanah or good role models. Pilar Cendekia is to honor the services and positions of professors at Undip as well as provide inspiration for future generations. “Hopefully, the Pilar Cendekia will inspire that the main crown of education is becoming a professor who is able to publish scientific works that are useful for the homeland and the nation,” said the Rector.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Syarifuddin, expressed his gratitude for the trust and respect given by Undip.
“Of course, with the existence of these Pilar Cendekia, not only as a symbol but also as something that strengthens me, it gives me more confidence that service through education as the educators have done and persevered in all this time is a very noble act. In the hands of educators, a golden generation is born that will continue the struggle of the nation and state in creating a developed and modern country,” he said.
Furthermore, he said that becoming a professor involves something other than the role of educators and teachers who have educated and dedicated themselves to the advancement of education. Prof. Syarifuddin hopes that Undip can produce generations who can fill empty opportunities at the Supreme Court or judicial bodies to be able to realize the quality of a solid judicial body in the future.
