The Faculty of Psychology, Diponegoro University (Undip) is again holding the annual Magenta Market Day in 2023, an Entrepreneurship Expo by the Faculty of Psychology Undip students, which this year has the theme “Home of Brilliant: Thriving Society in Uncertainty.” Magenta Market Day 2023 was held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 09:00-16:00 WIB at the Faculty of Psychology Undip. This event was enlivened with a bazaar, blood donation and art performances. Expert speakers in the field of entrepreneurship invited to this event were Arnaz Agung Adrarasmara, S.E., M.M. Chairman of the KADIN of Semarang City; Gabriella Gati Wardani, S.Pd. MSME Development Committee of KADIN of Semarang City; and Vinsensia Bertha Vania, S.Psi. alumni of the Faculty of Psychology Undip class of 2018, who are culinary entrepreneurs.
This year, the Magenta Market Day event was combined with the Trisula Talent Competition (Tritacom), where students were able to show their talents in the arts and develop their abilities in organizing an event by becoming committee members, MCs, and so on. At the bazaar exhibition, Psychology Undip students who were taking the Psychology of Entrepreneurship course were divided into groups who then created product innovations as the output of the course. This event is expected to be a forum for learning about entrepreneurship and MSMEs directly from resource persons who are entrepreneurial practitioners.
Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Undip, Prof. Dian Ratna Sawitri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D. symbolically opened the event by cutting the ribbon. She admitted that she was proud of the creativity of Psychology Undip students who were enthusiastic about creating psychology-based product innovations. “In the field of MSMEs, by inviting resource persons who are entrepreneurs, we hope to be able to show entrepreneurial role models for students both from alumni of the Faculty of Psychology itself and the KADIN of Semarang City,” said Prof. Dian Ratna Sawitri, S.Psi., M.Si., Ph.D. in her interview with the Undip Public Relations team.
The criteria for assessing product innovation produced by students of the Psychology of Entrepreneurship course are creativity, novelty and function of the product delivered. Products that function efficiently, low prices, and marketing strategies are the challenges faced by students in starting a business.
The group with the best product category will be given coaching funds from the faculty. “The hope is that they can take part in competitions at the national level, for example, PKM-K (Student Creativity Program-Entrepreneurship) and so on. For 2024, we plan to invite students who have won competitions in the field of entrepreneurship at the national level to tell stories and inspire their friends to take part in entrepreneurship competitions. Then, for alumni, we will increase the number of sources from alumni. We also plan to hold a workshop with KADIN in 2024 to discuss product diversification and specifications, as well as workshops on packaging, marketing, finding innovation, and networking. In the future, we hope it can be even greater in 2024,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology Undip. (Titis – Public Relations)
