Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Diponegoro University made another proud achievement in the 2023 National Unmanned Fast Boat Contest (KKCTBN). In the winner announcement ceremony, which took place at Purnomo Prawiro Hall, University of Indonesia Depok Campus, the Undip contingent managed to win three categories at once. Undip won the title of KKCTBN General Champion in 2023.
KKCTBN itself is a competition in the field of naval and maritime technology organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) through the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) and the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI). In this competition, students compete to present design technology innovations, prototyping, and the best ship prototype performance. This year, the theme raised is “Strengthening the Technological Independence and Innovation of National Ships.”
This year, there were 88 teams from 31 universities competing to win the championship in the 6 categories provided. This year, Diponegoro University has succeeded in sending five teams, namely the Nexus-EZ team in the Routine Design and Regulation (DRR) Tourism Ship Division Category, the Niskala-EZ team in the Design Innovation and Implementation (DII) Tourism Ship Division Category, the Lembuswana Team 1 in the Leisure Boat Electric Remote Control (LBERC) Tourism Ship Prototype Manufacturing and Performance Category, the Lembuswana Team 2 in the Leisure Boat Fuel Engine Remote Control (LBFERC) Tourism Ship Prototype Manufacturing and Performance Category, and the Aterkia team in the Autonomous Tourism Surface Vessel (ATSV) Tourism Ship Prototype Manufacturing and Performance Category.
Of the five teams that competed, the Diponegoro University contingent managed to win in three categories, namely 1st Place in the DRR Tourism Ship Division Category, 1st Place in the DII Tourism Ship Division Category, and 3rd Place in the LBERC Category. Apart from that, the Diponegoro University contingent also succeeded in winning the 2023 KKCTBN General Champion.
Mufid Jaler Bagus Pamuning, a Marine Engineering student who is part of the Lembuswana Team 1, said that he and his team felt proud and happy to be able to win this year. For him, success in becoming the General Champion was an extraordinary thing because he could compete with other leading universities.
“The team and I are very proud and happy because actually becoming the overall champion at the 2023 KKCTBN is a very extraordinary thing for the Undip contingent who went to UI. “We are able to compete with the leading universities competing there, and we are able to present all of this to our beloved Undip,” he said.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Undip, Prof. Ir. M. Agung Wibowo, M.M, M.Sc, Ph.D., appreciated the victory of the Undip contingent at this year’s KKCTBN. According to him, this success is the result of research efforts that have been ongoing for a long time. “The useful thing is to do ongoing research. Of course, their success this year is the result of perfecting their research in previous years. As the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, I really appreciate the perseverance of the students and the guidance from the lecturers in implementing continuous improvement.”
He hopes that students will use this victory to develop their abilities in competing and building networks. “Hopefully, this can foster a spirit of competition, high confidence when competing at the national level, and a high spirit of sportsmanship. Then, you can build a network. By participating in a national-scale event like this, you can interact with other students from top universities so that you can create a network. It is hoped that later, when we work, we can meet again,” he said.
