Diponegoro University held a Heroes’ Day Commemoration Ceremony at Widya Puraya Field Undip Tembalang on Friday (10/11).
Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, S.H., M.Hum., as the ceremony supervisor, started his speech by delivering a speech from the Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The 78th Heroes’ Day is celebrated with the theme “Heroic Spirit for the Nation’s Future in Fighting Poverty and Ignorance.” This theme is raised through deep reflection to answer the increasingly real threat of modern colonialism.
“A hero is a person who stands out because of his courage and sacrifice in defending the truth and prioritizing the interests of the nation and state above the interests of his group and himself. The Heroes have taught us that we are not a nation of losers. We will never be willing to kneel and give up. No matter how big the threats and challenges, we will face them. With fists clenched and burning spirit,” said Prof. Yos.
Furthermore, Prof. Yos said that Undip’s ranking had risen, namely 177 in Asia and 43 in Southeast Asia. “Let us be part of making Undip even better. The students also help bring Undip’s good name wherever they are. The achievement is the responsibility and effort of all of us,” he concluded. (LW-PR)
