UNDIP Community Service Team Provided Literacy on the Dangers of Illegal Online Loans

The large number of victims of “careless clicking” on links provided by foreign numbers has sparked public unrest because they have become victims of illegal online loans. The practice of illegal online loans has currently become widespread in a number of cities in recent years. Online loans often offer convenience in loans; apart from that, they also promise tempting services and speed of disbursement of funds for people in need.

In most cases, people are caught in debt due to consumerist behavior, lack of financial literacy and challenging economic conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, people often need to pay more attention to the high interest rates offered by illegal online loans, which results in harm to the community itself.

To increase public literacy regarding the dangers of online loans as well as knowing how to check the legality of online loans and how to report illegal online loans, Aizzatin Nada, a student of KKN TIM II Undip from the Business Administration study program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) provided education and training on checking the legality of loans online to avoid the dangers of illegal online loans which are detrimental to society.

This socialization was carried out on July 14, 2023, at the Klewor Village Hall, which MSME actors and PKK women from Klewor Village attended. Through this activity, the public will be more alert and able to recognize or identify types of illegal online loans so that they do not fall into detrimental illegal online loans.
