UNDIP, Ende (December 11, 2025) – The Patriot Expedition Team of the Ministry of Transmigration–Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) carried out a community service program in the form of digital marketing outreach and training for students of SMK Negeri 5 Ende, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, on October 24, 2025. This activity was part of the Local Economic Development effort within the “Link and Match” program, which aimed to strengthen collaboration among the education, business, and industrial sectors. In addition, this community service activity was part of a series of initiatives by Team 1 of the Patriot Expedition Maukaro, focusing on developing local potential in the Maukaro Transmigration Area, Ende, by empowering the younger generation with greater opportunities to acquire digital marketing skills.
Guided by Dr. Wido Prananing Tyas, S.T., MDP., Ph.D., the vocational school students received training on the importance of digital literacy and online marketing skills as key competencies required in today’s modern economy. He emphasized that digital marketing is no longer merely a trend, but an essential need for both business actors and young people to enhance competitiveness, expand market reach, and effectively promote local products.
Through this activity, students were introduced to the concepts, forms, and strategies of digital marketing, including using social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, as well as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques that help products appear on the first page of search results. The application of digital marketing is considered crucial for expanding market reach, increasing product competitiveness, and introducing local potential to a broader audience.
As a direct application of the training outcomes, UNDIP also organized a videography competition titled “Village Potential in Maukaro.” This competition encouraged students to sharpen their creativity by producing short 30–60-second videos showcasing the beauty and potential of their respective villages. Through these young participants, it is expected that the marketing of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Maukaro will be supported, and even businesses run by their parents may benefit from the creativity of the younger generation.
Each team consisted of three to five members and was required to upload their work to Instagram or TikTok, tagging @satujejak.maukaro. Winners received prizes in the form of e-money, tumblers, and MSME products. This competition not only served as a contest but also as a platform for students to apply the digital skills they had just learned while creatively promoting the potential of the Maukaro area.
Through this series of activities, UNDIP hopes to foster a generation of young people who are creative, adaptive, and competitive amid rapid digital transformation, enabling them to contribute to local economic growth in Ende. In addition to equipping students with technical skills, this initiative also strengthens collaboration among educational institutions, the business sector, and the community to build a sustainable local economy.
This activity aligns with the arrival, vision, and mission of the Patriot Expedition Team in developing transmigration areas as new centers of economic growth. In line with the concept put forward by the Minister of Transmigration, M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, transmigration is not merely about relocating populations, but about developing transmigration areas as new economic growth hubs based on existing local potential. The flagship commodity to be developed is Bali cattle farming, supported by other potential sectors, including agricultural and plantation commodities such as candlenut, cashew nuts, coffee, and cocoa, as well as various handicrafts, including traditional weaving. Through this activity, the younger generation will recognize their important role in developing local potential by supporting and promoting existing local businesses.
When parents or local business actors have limited understanding of the role of digital marketing, young people—including students at SMK Negeri 5 Ende in Maukaro District—can assist local enterprises by leveraging their digital skills and smartphones. The synergy between the younger generation and local business actors is expected to provide optimal benefits for regional development.
