Casual Conversation Between Patient and HD Caregiver on World Kidney Day

Annually, the second Thursday of March is commemorated as World Kidney Day (WKD) to bring up public awareness of kidney health and reduce the effects of kidney diseases.

In 2024, the designated theme was “Kidney Health For All – Advancing Equitable Access to Care and Optimal Medication Practice.”

The National Hospital of Diponegoro (RSND) was engaged in celebrating World Kidney Day by holding a health education program themed “Kidney Health for All Advancing Equitable Access to Care and Optimal Medication Practice” at the RSND Hemodialysis Installation on Thursday, March 14th, 2024.

This program was attended by hemodialysis patients and their aid who are currently accessing the hemodialysis service at RSND.

As the speaker and the coordinator of the program, the RSND hemodialysis doctor-in-charge, dr. Fina Hardina, Sp. PD. “Hemodialysis is a process of cleansing blood from unwanted substances through an external filtering by a machine. It is practiced for a patient with kidney failure, which is the patient whose kidney is unable to function optimally,” stated dr. Fina Hardina, Sp. PD., in her discussion, while explaining one of the kidney health facilities at RSND.

Happy World Kidney Day! Hopefully, more people will become aware of the importance of kidney health, and public access to necessary kidney health services will improve.
