The Jentayu Racing Plane UNDIP team has made a proud achievement by obtaining 2nd place at the Regional I level at the Indonesia Flying Robot Contest (Kontes Robot Terbang Indonesia/KRTI) 2023, the Racing Plane division, held by Indonesia Talent Development Center (BPTI – Puspresnas), the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Indonesia which was held online on 13th-15th of August 2023. Four divisions competed at this 2023 KRTI, including Racing Plane (RP), Fixed Wing (FW), Vertical Take-Off Landing (VTOL), and Technology Development (TD). Exclusively for the Technology Department (TD) Division, there were six themes contested, namely Airframe Innovation theme (TDA), Propulsion System Development theme with Prime Mover subtheme (TDPM), Propulsion System Development theme with Electronic Speed Controller subtheme (TDPE), Propulsion System Development theme with Propeller subtheme (TDPP), Flight Controller Development (TDF), and Ground Control Station theme (TDG).
In 2023, the KRTI Racing Plane (RP) division was attended by 50 teams from 50 Universities across Indonesia. All the teams were initially selected on the regional level, and then if they passed the selection, they were called to the national level. The KRTI National level will be held at Sumatera Institute of Technology, Lampung.
The award was successfully achieved by the Jentayu Racing Plane team of Diponegoro University and was the 2nd place at the Regional I level in the Racing Plane (RP). The Jentayu Racing Plane team, as the representative of the Undip Racing Plane team, is a cross-discipline team led by Bobby Ezra Maulana Sadikin (Mechanical Engineering) and consists of Ananda Hikmawan, Kelvin Gibran Arya Dwiangga, Abid Nanta Legowo (Electrical Engineering) Calvin Mahendra, Naufal Danadyaksa Kurniawan, Bryan Arifianto, Muhamad Aditya Nugraha, Yan Calvin Hanggara, Muhammad Rizqi Aunillah, Muhamad Ulil Ahkam, Faisal Maulana Iqbal (Mechanical Engineering). The Jentayu Racing Plane team is directly mentored by Dr. Eng. Munadi, S.T., M.T. from the Mechanical Engineering Department and Ir. Hadha Afrisal, S.T., M.Sc., IPP from Electrical Engineering Departement.
In the most competitive contest at the Regional level, the Undip Jentayu Racing team competed against the best representative teams from universities throughout Indonesia while successfully showing off their best performance. The success certainly proved the Undip flying robot team’s exceptional technology and innovation. Jentayu’s Racing Plane team recorded a 20-second fly-time to cover a 500-meter distance while carrying 820 grams of weight. The achievement made the Jentayu Racing Plane team win 2nd place after outperforming 18 other teams from various universities in western Indonesia regarding flying time speed.
The Head of the Jentayu Racing Plane team, Bobby Ezra Maulana Sadikin, revealed that he and his team members were happy about this achievement. They are proud to have formed a solid and unified team like a family, which, with passion and teamwork, finally led them to become champions. Even though it was only formed in 2020, they hope that Jentayu Racing Plane will be able to make achievements again at the national level later so that it can raise the flag of Diponegoro University in the 2023 Indonesia Flying Robot Contest (KRTI) at the National level in Lampung.
The success of achieving 2nd place at the Regional 1 level proves the ability and potential of the Jentayu Racing Plane team and Diponegoro University in flying robots. Bobby Ezra Maulana Sadikin, the head of the KRTI Jentayu Racing Plane Undip team and the team also expressed his gratitude to the supervisor and the Diponegoro University, who have provided adequate support and facilities in preparation for this competition.
