LPPM UNDIP Provides Aid to Those Affected by The Flood at the Asshodiqiyah Islamic Boarding School Gayamsari

Institute of Research and Community Services (LPPM) of Diponegoro University provided aid to the region affected by the flood, especially at the Asshodiqiyah Islamic Boarding School, Sawah Besar, Kaligawe Urban Village, Gayamsari District, Semarang on Wednesday (20/3). This project was accomplished as a part of Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely education, research, and community service, as well as the LPPM UNDIP’s concern with the volunteers who are united in the Community Service Volunteers Team (Relawan Pengabdian Masyarakat/RPM).

Prof. Dr. Ing. Ir. Suherman S.T., M.T. led the activities of the Community Service Volunteers Team on disaster countermeasures participation under LPPM management. Prof. Dr. Rahayu S.H., M.Hum., as Vice-Chairman of LLPM UNDIP Community Service, also participated in this event.

During the distribution of aid in the form of basic necessities, toiletries, and other needs, the logistics team and field team from LPPM UNDIP were also accompanied by the Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP, Dr. dr. Yan Wisnu Prajoko, M.Kes., Sp.B.Subsp.-onk(K). They were warmly welcomed by the Asshodiqiyah Islamic Boarding School leader, Dr. (HC) K.H. Shodiq Hamzah.

Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. expressed his support and appreciation for the activities of LPPM UNDIP in providing disaster relief assistance for flood mitigation, including a free medical treatment agenda at the Asshodiqiyah Islamic Boarding School in Sawah Besar, Gayamsari, on Sunday, March 24, 2024. The activities involved volunteers, including 4 to 5 doctors, several medical officers, nurses, pharmacists, and students both from within and outside UNDIP.

“This activity represents LPPM UNDIP’s concern for residents affected by the floods in Semarang, especially the Asshodiqiyah Islamic boarding school, which houses approximately 500 students. It also serves as a dedication to the surrounding community through health examinations and providing the necessary medications,” said Prof. Dr. Rahayu S.H., M.Hum., at the end of the event.

“The hope is that the free treatment program this Sunday will reach the target of 300 residents and 350 coupons, not only for students of Asshodiqiyah Islamic Boarding School but also for the residents in the boarding school neighborhood, including the Sawah Besar Residence,” Prof. Rahayu concluded.
