Faculty of Engineering Prepares Graduates Ready for Work Through UNDIP Career Days and UNDIP’s 175th Graduation Ceremony Briefing

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, the Engineering Career Center of the Faculty of Engineering at UNDIP, in collaboration with Level 7 Indonesia and the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP, once again held the UNDIP Career Days job fair at the Prof. Soedarto, SH Building, UNDIP Tembalang. In this fifth edition, the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP also organized a Graduates Briefing for the 175th-period graduates of the Faculty of Engineering.

The Graduates Briefing is a routine event held by the Faculty of Engineering before the commencement ceremony. Its purpose is to prepare graduates to face the job market. Combining the briefing event with UNDIP Career Days, this time aimed to help Faculty of Engineering graduates secure jobs as quickly as possible. “The event (graduates briefing) essentially promotes the graduates of the Faculty of Engineering to get jobs as soon as possible,” said Dr.Eng. Gunawan Dwi Haryadi, S.T, M.T, head of the Engineering Career Center.

In the 175th graduates briefing, two speakers were chosen to present materials. The first speaker was Grasiana Gunawan, owner of Commoro Group, who explained the importance of branding in building a business. The second speaker was Riska Kurnia Putri, Lead Recruiter from English First Semarang, who provided tips on crafting a Curriculum Vitae and handling interviews in English.

According to the Vice Dean of Resources, Dr. Ir. Abdul Syakur, S.T, M.T, IPU, the UNDIP Career Days event is not only aimed at graduates of the Faculty of Engineering but also at all groups. The participation of dozens of national and international companies from various fields in UNDIP Career Days followed the event. Moreover, the available job vacancies are not only for graduates of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP but also open to the general public.

“We hope (UNDIP Career Days) can provide extensive information, especially to graduates of the Faculty of Engineering and UNDIP, and of course to other universities and vocational schools. Additionally, it is also for graduates from vocational high schools (SMK),” said Syakur.

The UNDIP Career Days and the UNDIP’s 175th Graduation Ceremony Briefing events took place over two days, from July 24 to July 25, 2024. The Head of the Semarang City Manpower Office, Dr. Sutrisno, S.K.M, M.H.Kes, advised job seekers to prepare themselves as best as possible to achieve their dream jobs. “Prepare a winning mentality to open up (job opportunities), and then choose the job you want,” he advised.
