The Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Diponegoro, in collaboration with the Indonesian Management and Business Study Program Alliance (Aliansi Program Studi Manajemen dan Bisnis Indonesia / APSMBI) and the Indonesian Management Forum (Forum Manajemen Indonesia / FMI), successfully hosted a workshop on Internationalization of Study Programs and International Community Service with the theme “Cultural Synergy Empowering Global Students Through Multicultural Leadership.” The event was held on July 31, 2024, and August 1, 2024, at the Main Meeting Room of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang, featuring prominent speakers from various backgrounds.
The workshop aimed to enrich the knowledge of lecturers, researchers, and other stakeholders in adapting and implementing global perspectives in academic programs and operational practices. The event highlighted the importance of internationalization in enhancing the quality and relevance of higher education in the global era.
The workshop opened with remarks from the Head of the Committee, Bimo Suryo Wicaksono, S.E., M.M., and the APSMBI Chair for the Jawa, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara Region. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Faisal, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Diponegoro, who presented material on regulations, strategies, and the implementation of the International Undergraduate Program (IUP). Prof. Dr. Harjum Muharam, S.E., M.E., Head of the Management Department at FEB UNDIP, moderated the event.
The next session featured Prof. Firmansyah, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., who discussed “Strategies and Implementation of the International Undergraduate Program (IUP).” This session was followed by Afina Hasya, S.T., M.M., presenting on “Best Practices in Managing the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) at Universitas Diponegoro,” moderated by Dr. Ismi Darmastuti, S.E., M.Si.
Subsequent sessions included presentations from alumni and students of international programs. Christian Krisna Pideksa from Curtin University shared his experience as a Double Degree Program alumnus. At the same time, Ghassani Nur Amalina from York University elaborated on the benefits of participating in the Credit Transfer System (CTS) Program. The session also featured Dr. Thorr Kerr from Curtin University, who represents an overseas partner of IUP, with Afina Hasya, S.T., M.M. as moderator. The first day of the workshop, held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, was attended by 68 participants representing 31 universities and 11 co-host institutions, including Universitas Trunojoyo Madura, Universitas Ciputra Surabaya, Universitas Islam Indonesia, STIE Madani Balikpapan, Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar, Universitas Kuningan, Universitas Jember, Universitas Nahdatul Ulama Jepara, Universitas Muria Kudus, Universitas Jendral Soedirman dan Universitas Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
The second day of the workshop focused on international community service involving international students. Activities included interactive discussions, cultural introductions, and city tours, providing participants with immersive experiences and deeper insights into cultural diversity. On Thursday, August 1, 2024, the International Community Service program engaged 55 participants representing 26 universities across Indonesia.
As part of the second day’s activities, participants joined a campus tour designed to introduce the facilities and programs of the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Diponegoro. The campus tour offered participants the opportunity to observe the supportive learning environment, modern facilities, and various services available for international students. Participants also had the chance to engage in discussions with IUP students and faculty, broadening their understanding of the learning experience at Universitas Diponegoro.
This workshop successfully created an interactive forum for academics and industry practitioners to exchange ideas and strategies for addressing the dynamics of global education. The active participation of various higher education institutions demonstrated a shared commitment to enhancing the quality of teaching and fostering sustainable international collaboration. (idr)
