Rector Gives Appreciation to UNDIP Community Service Team II Students

Semarang, Central Java (22/8): Diponegoro University held a ceremony to welcome back 7,253 students from the university’s Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata / KKN) Team II for the 2023/2024 academic year. The ceremony took place on the field at the UNDIP stadium on the Tembalang campus.

The UNDIP Community Service students completed the program over approximately 40 days in 12 regions in Central Java, covering 82 sub-districts across 11 regencies (Pemalang, Pekalongan, Batang, Temanggung, Magelang, Boyolali, Klaten, Sukoharjo, Sragen, Karanganyar, and Wonogiri) and 1 city, Surakarta.

As the ceremony supervisor, Diponegoro University Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in the implementation of Community Service Team II. He was delighted that the Community Service program was conducted well and smoothly and has brought significant blessings to UNDIP and the wider community.

“Thank you for the participation and dedication of the supervising lecturers who have guided and accompanied the KKN students. For the students, the next step is to graduate successfully. May the service rendered during Community Service receive blessings and approval from God Almighty,” said Prof. Suharnomo.

“I believe the Community Service students gained a lot of knowledge in their respective Community Service regions, especially when interacting with the community, which is not easy. There were moments when they had to interact with the community and then analyze the conditions even if they couldn’t provide a complete solution; at least, there was an understanding of the problems in the community. Communication techniques, ways of speaking, and making friends are skills needed by Community Service students, which hopefully have been directly experienced,” said the UNDIP Rector.

Prof. Suharnomo also reminded the students, as seniors who are still learning to become adults, always to be cautious and stay alert to avoid falling into negative influences. “While still young, there are many things that can be done and need to be learned. The road is still long, so you must always take care of yourself,” he said.

Meanwhile, a report from the Head of the Community Service Center (P2KKN), Kurniawan Teguh Martono, S.T., M.T., stated that the work programs of Community Service Team II, titled “Inclusive Community Empowerment through the Potential of Community Service,” had been successfully implemented and received appreciation from the community around the Community Service areas.

“The work programs carried out during the Community Service include accelerating the reduction of stunting in 30 villages spread across 10 regencies; maternal and child health in 6 regencies; empowering out-of-school children; mapping and managing regional potentials to support community empowerment; appropriate technology for communities in Community Service locations; health transportation innovations for rural areas; utilizing used materials and kitchen waste to become sources of income for residents; scientific programs aimed at providing students with new experiences in implementing knowledge in the community; regional development for tourism; and poverty data collection at KKN locations,” Teguh concluded.
