UNDIP and DKPP RI Agree to Strengthen Cultural Campus

Diponegoro University (UNDIP) and the Honorary Council of Election Organizers of the Republic of Indonesia (Dewan Kehormatan Penyelenggara Pemilu Republik Indonesia / DKPP RI) collaborated by signing an Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), a Cooperation Agreement, and an Implementation of Arrangement on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the UNDIP Art Center.

The event was attended by the UNDIP Rector and Vice Rector 4, the Chairman of DKPP RI, the Secretary of DKPP RI, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities (FIB) UNDIP, the Heads of Study Programs at FIB UNDIP, and FIB UNDIP students.

The Rector of UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., welcomed the Chairman of DKPP RI, who is also a UNDIP alumnus and expressed his pleasure at the Chairman’s contribution to developing his alma mater. Prof. Suharnomo also thanked FIB for its significant role in embracing the culture within society and for its efforts in preserving and developing existing cultural practices.

“We are grateful to the Faculty of Humanities for its willingness to engage with the community, which aligns with our slogan, ‘UNDIP Bermanfaat’ (UNDIP is Beneficial),” he said.

The Chairman of DKPP RI, Heddy Lugito, mentioned that the cooperation between DKPP RI and UNDIP has been ongoing for a long time, with UNDIP playing a role in laying the foundation for the establishment of DKPP. He stated that this creates a commitment on his part to be beneficial to UNDIP. “As much as we can, we are committed to assisting in the development of Diponegoro University,” Heddy emphasized. He also expressed his hopes for UNDIP to continue to excel and become a leading university in the country.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, S.S., M.Hum., the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities UNDIP, stated that through this collaboration, UNDIP can affirm itself as a culturally enriched campus. He also highlighted FIB’s role in solidifying this cultural identity. “We nurture local arts in various places as a manifestation of UNDIP’s grounding and benefits, including batik in several regions,” he explained. The Faculty of Humanities UNDIP is also working on creating a distinctive UNDIP batik in collaboration with local MSMEs.

The event continued with the signing of the Addendum MoU by the Rector of UNDIP and the Chairman of DKPP RI, as well as the signing of the Cooperation Agreement and Implementation of Arrangement by the Dean of FIB and the Secretary of DKPP RI. The series of events concluded with a public lecture delivered by the Chairman of DKPP RI, Heddy Lugito, with a material entitled “Students and the Guardianship of Democratic Ethics.”
