The Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Diponegoro held a Muhasabah (self-reflection) and Istighosah (prayer for help) on Saturday (28/9) at the Mini Stadium dr. R. Saleh Mangunsudirdjo, Sp.BO, FICS. This event was part of the series of activities commemorating the 63rd anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP.
In his speech, Dr. dr. Yan Wisnu Prajoko, M.Kes., Sp.B., Subsp.Onk(K), the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, stated that Muhasabah and Istighosah are the right moments to reflect on the journey of the Faculty of Medicine, evaluate future steps, and strengthen the commitment to make the Faculty even better and more beneficial to society.
“May the Faculty of Medicine at UNDIP continue to produce graduates who are not only competent but also possess noble character, have knowledge and skills, and develop and apply science and technology that benefits humanity. Hopefully, today’s event will inspire and motivate all of us to continuously improve ourselves,” expressed the Dean.
Prof. Dr. H. Abdul Mustaqim, S.Ag., M.Ag., a Professor of Qur’anic and Tafsir Studies at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, delivered a tausiyah (religious lecture). He explained that Muhasabah and Istighosah are efforts to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses in all areas, which will lead to blessings and more significant progress, especially in enhancing the achievements of the Faculty of Medicine UNDIP.
“Life sometimes has its dark and light moments, just like managing an institution, which also goes through bright and dark phases. In every journey, there are times when we encounter uphill climbs or potholes. In living life, we will surely face tests, but religion teaches us always to think positively. When conditions are unfavorable, it brings us closer to Allah, elevating our spirituality and making us believe that every storm will eventually pass,” he explained.
Prof. Abdul Mustaqim further elaborated that according to Imam al-Ghazali, human beings are composed of three essential elements: the physical body, the soul, and the mind. When these three aspects are well-synchronized, they will be harmonious and balanced.
“Humans need nourishment for the soul to maintain a healthy mind. When the spirit is strong, the body will also be healthy; when spirituality is strong, the body will also follow suit. Through this Muhasabah, we start to improve ourselves, viewing humans holistically in terms of physical, spiritual, and mental aspects,” he concluded. (LW-Public Relations)
