Commemorating Breast Cancer Awareness Month, RSND Invites Early Detection Together

Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed every October, aims to raise public awareness and knowledge about the importance of early detection and intensive treatment of breast cancer. Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND) is participating in Breast Cancer Awareness Month by holding a public seminar themed, “No One Should Face Breast Cancer Alone,” aligning with the theme set by WHO for the 2024 observance. The public seminar was held in the RSND Main Lobby on Friday, October 25, 2024.

The participants included members of women’s organizations, health laboratories, and other organizations in Semarang. The event is hoped to increase knowledge about breast cancer screening, early diagnosis, and intensive treatment.

In his opening remarks, the Managing Director of RSND, Dr. dr. Sutopo Patria Jati, M.M., M.Kes., reminded seminar participants that RSND provides mammography equipment for early breast cancer detection. He hopes the seminar participants will help spread this information, as greater access to such services can improve recovery rates for breast cancer patients.

In line with the Managing Director of RSND’s message, Dewi Widayani Suharnomo, Chairwoman of the Universitas Diponegoro Women’s Association (DWP UNDIP), also expressed her appreciation for the availability of mammography equipment at RSND for early breast cancer detection. She further encouraged attendees to support breast cancer survivors to stay motivated in their treatment journey and work toward recovery.

This public seminar featured several informative presentations by experts. The first session, titled “From Survivor Experience,” was delivered by Ari Widyastuti Andreas, a breast cancer survivor. The second presentation, “Timely Detection of Breast Cancer: The First Step to Optimal Treatment,” was given by dr. Edmond Rukmana Wikanta, M.Si.Med., SpB.Subsp.Onk.(K), FINACS., FICS. The third session, titled “The Importance of Early Detection of Breast Cancer: Understanding Mammography and Its Benefits,” was delivered by dr. Rr.
