Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Doktor Haji Maratua Simanjuntak Foundation, which oversees the Al-Azhar Asy-Syarif Islamic Boarding School in Sumatera Utara. The MoU was signed by UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., and the Foundation’s Director, Dr. Muhammad Adyan Simanjuntak, S.T., M.M., at the Widya Puraya Building, Universitas Diponegoro, on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Chair of the UNDIP Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Yusriyadi, S.H., M.S., the Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Cooperation, Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Dr. Drs. Teguh Yuwono, M.Pol.Admin., and a delegation from the Doktor Haji Maratua Simanjuntak Foundation. The partnership covers the fields of education, research, and community service.
Dr. Muhammad Adyan Simanjuntak expressed his hope that this collaboration will create more opportunities for students at the Al-Azhar Asy-Syarif Islamic Boarding School to access quality education. “We hope this partnership will motivate students to develop themselves and step out of their comfort zones at the boarding school,” he stated.
The UNDIP Rector welcomed the collaboration and expressed his gratitude to the Doktor Haji Maratua Simanjuntak Foundation. He also affirmed the university’s readiness to host further visits from the foundation, aiming to introduce Al-Azhar Asy-Syarif students to university life and provide insights into the study programs they might pursue in the future.
