As part of its commitment to improving patient care, Diponegoro National Hospital (RSND) organized a seminar on Emergency Management in Children. The event provided insights and enhanced practical skills for healthcare professionals in Primary Healthcare Facilities (Fasilitas Kesehatan Tingkat Pertama / FKTP) to administer first aid to children in emergencies. The seminar was held in the drg. Gunawan Wibisono Hall, Central Laboratory, 5th Floor, Faculty of Medicine Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
The participants were healthcare professionals from FKTPs who referred patients to RSND. The seminar was expected to improve knowledge, willingness, and collaboration between RSND and the referring FKTPs.
“The success of emergency management depends on three factors: the referrer, the referral center, and the transportation. One of the objectives of this seminar is to enhance communication among the personnel involved in these three aspects, thereby ensuring better patient care,” said RSND Director, dr. Agus Setiyo Hadipurwanto, M.Kes., during the opening speech. He also stated that this seminar marked the beginning of one of RSND’s flagship programs—regular emergency seminars. The initiative aims to foster stronger relationships between RSND and the referring FKTPs.
The seminar featured two key topics related to pediatric emergencies, namely “Recognizing Pediatric Emergencies” and “Essential Life Support for Children.” Both topics were presented by dr. Mulyono, Sp.A(K), a pediatric consultant at RSND specializing in Pediatric Emergencies and Intensive Care. The seminar was highly interactive, incorporating discussions and hands-on practice using mannequins.
In addition to the pediatric emergency topics, the seminar also introduced RSND’s new Director-General and Board of Directors for the 2024–2029 period. This event will provide valuable knowledge to medical personnel at FKTPs while strengthening the relationship between FKTPs and RSND. Ultimately, the initiative aims to improve the success rate of pediatric emergency management.
