Gerry Andrianto Simarmata’s journey to complete his Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness at the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro, over 3 years and 8 months, was not in vain. He graduated with the highest GPA of 3.93. His pride peaked when his name was announced as the top graduate with the Cum Laude distinction during the 175th Graduation Ceremony on July 31, 2024, at the Muladi Dome, UNDIP Multipurpose Building (GSG), Tembalang Campus.
Gerry recalls the memorable moment when he left his hometown of Medan to move to Semarang after being accepted into UNDIP through the SNMPTN pathway in 2020. Throughout his studies, he was involved in various academic and non-academic activities that helped him develop leadership, communication, and project management skills.
“The experience of studying at UNDIP not only enriched my academic knowledge but also shaped me into a more mature, confident individual, ready to face challenges in the professional world,” Gerry shared.
College, he believes, is a golden period in life—a time to acquire knowledge and develop oneself comprehensively. “UNDIP offers a dynamic campus environment with diverse activities, from sports, academic seminars, talk shows, and other events tailored to students’ interests and talents. All these opportunities allowed me to grow and learn beyond the classroom,” he added.
For Gerry, education is the key to a bright future, providing a strong foundation through theories, concepts, and critical thinking skills relevant to a career. He encourages students to make the most of their college years.
“Be active in both academics and organizations, as they form a perfect combination that prepares us to face challenges and achieve future success. Never underestimate the value of any lesson, as it will all serve as a valuable asset in life’s journey,” Gerry advised.
