UNDIP, Semarang (February 3) – The Directorate of Reputation, Partnerships, and Global Connectivity at Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) held a Socialization Event for the LPDP France Scholarship Program 2025 on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Art Center Building, UNDIP Tembalang Campus. This event aimed to provide information on scholarship opportunities for studying in France, mainly through the LPDP Scholarship Program.
As one of Indonesia’s leading public universities, UNDIP remains committed to enhancing the quality of education, research, and community service. The university actively engages in international collaborations and supports the development of globally competent human resources.
Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Partnerships, and Public Communication at UNDIP officially opened the event. In his opening remarks, Wijayanto emphasized the importance of international collaboration in improving education quality and human resource development, as well as supporting UNDIP lecturers and students in accessing global scholarship opportunities.
“This socialization marks the beginning of a collaboration between UNDIP and universities in France through the Attaché. Hopefully, this partnership will encourage many young UNDIP lecturers to pursue further education at France’s top universities,” said Wijayanto.
During the event, key stakeholders involved in the scholarship program provided insightful presentations to participating lecturers and students. Antoine Bricout, Education and University Cooperation Attaché at the French Embassy in Indonesia discussed educational cooperation between Indonesia and France and the opportunities available through this program.
“This event is an excellent opportunity to introduce France as a country that fosters technological and scientific advancements,” he stated.
The unique LPDP France Scholarship Program is part of efforts to enhance higher education quality and strengthen the collaboration between Indonesia and France. “We hope this event provides valuable insights and sparks students’ interest in studying in France,” Antoine added.
Additionally, François Dabin, Director of the Institut Français Indonesia (IFI) Yogyakarta, presented an overview of IFI Yogyakarta as a French language and cultural center that supports prospective students in preparing for studies in France. He emphasized that UNDIP lecturers and students could still pursue education in France even without fluency in French.
“IFI serves as a French Cultural and Educational Center that promotes French culture and acts as a bridge for cooperation between France and Indonesia. Our activities include language training, French proficiency tests, and facilitating arts and cultural events,” François explained.
He also highlighted that France is collaborating with Indonesia, a developing country with an extensive LPDP program offering 198 master’s programs taught entirely in English across 27 French universities. Various specialized schools and polytechnics in France provide study programs in fields such as Business, Engineering, Economics, and Nuclear Energy.
In the next session, Agung Riantiarno, Head of Campus France Yogyakarta, provided insights into the application process and study requirements in France.
“Campus France is the official embassy service that facilitates and prepares students for further studies in Paris, France. There are 260 offices worldwide, including five in Indonesia—Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, and Medan. In Jawa Tengah, students will be connected with the Campus France office in Yogyakarta,” he stated.
France is renowned for its innovation and research, having received 71 Nobel Prizes to date. Students studying in France benefit from high-quality education, internship programs, and strong university-industry collaborations. Furthermore, many programs are available in English, eliminating the need for fluency in French.
The event concluded with a Q&A session moderated by Pulung Widhi Hari Hananto, S.H., M.H., LL.M., Deputy Director of Partnerships and Global Connectivity at UNDIP. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions about the scholarship program and studying in France.
This initiative reflects UNDIP’s concrete steps toward expanding global access for its students and strengthening international partnerships, particularly in higher education. Through this socialization event, UNDIP hopes to encourage more lecturers and students to take advantage of scholarship opportunities to study abroad, especially in France. (DHW & Marta)
