In Collaboration with PT Bayan Resources Tbk, UNDIP Covers Tuition Fees for 45 Students at Jepara and Batang Campuses Through a Scholarship Program

UNDIP, Semarang (February 19) – The Bayan Peduli Scholarship serves as a testament to Universitas Diponegoro’s (UNDIP) commitment to providing broad access to education for high-achieving students facing financial limitations. This program not only covers tuition fees until graduation but also provides financial support and learning facilities to ensure students can focus on their academic achievements.

The ceremonial event and official handover of the Bayan Peduli Scholarship from PT Bayan Resources Tbk took place in the Rector’s Meeting Room, Widya Puraya Building, 2nd Floor, UNDIP Tembalang Campus, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

The Bayan Peduli Scholarship is an educational assistance program provided by PT Bayan Resources Tbk as part of its commitment to developing human resources in Indonesia. Through this program, 45 academically outstanding UNDIP students facing financial difficulties receive financial aid to ease their education expenses. The scholarship covers eight semesters and will continue for four future cohorts, with each cohort consisting of 45 students, reaching a total of 180 students by the fourth year.

In 2024, the Bayan Peduli Scholarship was initiated for the Agribusiness undergraduate study program at the Batang campus and the Fisheries and Marine Business Technology undergraduate study program as part of a food security succession initiative. This scholarship will serve as motivation for students who, despite economic challenges, can become valuable members of society upon graduation.

The full scholarship recipients include 29 students from the Fisheries and Marine Business Technology undergraduate study program at the Jepara Campus and 16 students from the Agribusiness undergraduate study program at the Batang Campus. These students will receive full tuition coverage until graduation, including living expenses. Additionally, they will be provided with study facilities, daily living allowances, field uniforms, and academic equipment.

UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed deep appreciation to PT Bayan Resources Tbk for its tangible contributions to education. “We sincerely thank PT Bayan Resources Tbk for its generosity and support towards our students. This scholarship plays a significant role in helping them complete their education successfully while staying focused on academic excellence,” said Prof. Suharnomo.

“Education is the most extraordinary path to upward mobility and success. You must make yourselves, your families, UNDIP, and PT Bayan proud. The Bayan Peduli Scholarship should serve as a stepping stone to future success. If you perform well academically in the first year, this could set a milestone for the years ahead,” added the UNDIP Rector.

Furthermore, Merlin, Director of PT Bayan Resources Tbk, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting education for the younger generation, especially at UNDIP, one of Indonesia’s top universities and a key partner institution. She also emphasized that this program aligns with the government’s efforts to support food security and poverty alleviation.

“Through the Bayan Peduli program, PT Bayan Resources Tbk aims to tackle today’s challenges by implementing community empowerment initiatives and supporting youth education,” she stated.

“We believe that education is the key to shaping an outstanding generation. Through the Bayan Peduli Scholarship, we hope to help UNDIP students achieve a brighter future and contribute to the nation,” Merlin added.

UNDIP’s leadership, along with representatives from PT Bayan Resources Tbk and scholarship recipients, attended the event. A symbolic handover was conducted for students who successfully qualified for this year’s Bayan Peduli Scholarship.

With this program, it is hoped that more students will receive the support they need to complete their education and make meaningful contributions to society and the industry in the future. (DHW; ed. NH)
