LPPM Organizes Diponegoro Disaster Training for UNDIP Academic Community and Volunteers

At the beginning of February, the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Diponegoro University (UNDIP) organized the Diponegoro Disaster Training for lecturers, students, and administrative staff within the UNDIP environment. This event is part of the Community Service agenda through the Diponegoro Disaster Assistance Response Team (D-DART), a disaster response unit consisting of volunteers from both within UNDIP (lecturers, administrative staff, and students) and external parties.

This full-day training took place from February 4–6, 2025, and was attended by more than 100 participants, providing fundamental knowledge about disaster management. The first two days focused on presentations and discussions, followed by practical exercises on the third day. The event, opened by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Suherman, S.T., M.T., as the Head of LPPM UNDIP, also featured expert speakers and moderators from various fields.

Prof. dr. Achmad Zulfa Juniarto, M.Si.Med., M.M.R., Ph.D., Sp.And Subsp FER, FISQua, began the training with a session on the Concept of Volunteerism and Disaster Fundamentals. This session was followed by discussions on Climate Change Phenomena, Tectonic Plate Movements, and Volcanic Activity, which Dr. Dian Agus Widiarso presented. Additionally, Bergas C. The final day, which focused on discussions and simulations, was held at the Diponegoro Medical Simulation Centre (DMSC). Aldani Putri Wijayanti, S.Psi., M.Sc., presented on Psychosocial Support in Disasters and Vulnerable Group Management, followed by Dr. Satrio Adi Wicaksono, Sp.An., KAO, who provided insights into the Theory and Practice of Medical First Response. The discussion and practical sessions sparked great enthusiasm among participants, who were guided by facilitators, committee members, and moderators, including Marsha Yoke Nancy, S.Kep., Ns., M.N.Sc.; S.Kep, Ns. Henni Kusuma, S.Kep., M.Kep., Sp.Kep.MB., Ph.D.; and Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D.

The Diponegoro Disaster Training aims to equip volunteers with essential skills to assist disaster victims. One of the key aspects of disaster evacuation is the volunteers’ ability and willingness to carry out disaster mitigation safely. Furthermore, synergy among relevant stakeholders is crucial in disaster management to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of evacuation processes. This effort aligns with UNDIP’s new spirit: “Noble and Valuable UNDIP.” (AS)
