Synergy between UNDIP, Binus, and SCCR Indonesia Drives Innovation for Economic Growth

UNDIP, Semarang (April 24) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Bina Nusantara (BINUS) University, and Stem Cell and Cancer Research (SCCR) Indonesia have entered into a collaboration to promote innovation in the fields of education and industry. The initiative resulted in two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and five Cooperation Agreements (PKS) within the framework of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. This collaboration with industry represents UNDIP’s concrete contribution to economic development and the well-being of the people of Jawa Tengah.

The official signing ceremony took place on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Widya Puraya Building, UNDIP’s Tembalang campus. The event was attended by UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si.; BINUS University Rector Dr. Nelly, S.Kom., M.M.; Vice President of BINUS Higher Education & Professional Services Prof. Dr. Ir. Harjanto Prabowo, M.M.; Founder and Commissioner of SCCR Indonesia Prof. Dr. dr. Agung Putra, M.Si., Med.; and Deans from UNDIP’s Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, and Faculty of Medicine, along with their respective teams and guests.

In his remarks, UNDIP Rector Prof. Suharnomo expressed that a shared vision and mission drove the presence of all parties at the event. “We are committed to humanity and the community. Integrity is essential, both in science and behavior,” he said. He also mentioned that UNDIP is currently focusing on several agendas to improve the economy of Jawa Tengah through collaboration in various fields, including those formalized at the event.

Meanwhile, BINUS University Rector Dr. Nelly emphasized that this collaboration is both an honor and a starting point for building a shared commitment. “This is a step forward in strengthening academic networks and fostering synergy between academia and industry. This collaboration will enable knowledge transfer to benefit students and faculty alike. Together, we aim to generate innovation and enhance the development of superior human resources in preparation for Golden Indonesia 2045,” she stated.

Prof. Dr. dr. Agung Putra, Founder and Commissioner of SCCR Indonesia, expressed appreciation for the human resource development efforts led by universities. “As a pharmaceutical industry, we play a role in the downstreaming of products to promote economic self-reliance. SCCR Indonesia is no longer just a laboratory; we have received approval from BPOM as a pharmaceutical manufacturer,” he explained. SCCR Indonesia operates under Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) standards, with capabilities for drug production and commercialization. For this reason, SCCR Indonesia is partnering with UNDIP and BINUS University to create innovations and products.

The event continued with a discussion session led by drh. Dian Wahyu Harjanti, Ph.D., serves as the Director of Innovation, Downstreaming, and Collaboration at UNDIP. She noted that the partnerships formalized today were the result of extensive discussions around innovation, downstream, and commercialization, involving lecturers and researchers both onsite and via Zoom. These discussions culminated in two MoUs and five cooperation agreements, as detailed below.

Memorandums of Understanding signed:

1. MoU between UNDIP and SCCR Indonesia on the Development of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

2. MoU between BINUS University and SCCR Indonesia covering collaboration on internships, seminars, workshops, and curriculum development.

Meanwhile, the Cooperation Agreements signed:

1. Cooperation Agreement between BINUS University, Faculty of Medicine UNDIP, and SCCR Indonesia on joint research related to Artificial Intelligence.

2. Cooperation Agreement between BINUS University, Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences UNDIP, and SCCR Indonesia on joint research related to Stem Cells, Molecular Research in Livestock, and Artificial Intelligence.

3. Cooperation Agreement between BINUS University and UNDIP’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) on joint research, publications, scientific journals, and a joint conference.

4. Cooperation Agreement between BINUS University and the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science UNDIP on student and lecturer exchange programs and community service.

5. Cooperation Agreement between BINUS University and the Faculty of Psychology UNDIP on joint research related to employability.

This collaboration is expected to strengthen further UNDIP’s commitment to contributing to community development, particularly in Jawa Tengah.
