UNDIP, Jepara (September 1, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro held its first Writing Camp to enhance the academic, popular, and creative writing skills of young faculty members. The event, initiated by UNDIP’s Institute for Research and Community Service (Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat / LPPM), took place August 29–30, 2025, with 60 participants.
The UNDIP Writing Camp Batch 1 was designed to provide intensive guidance on writing scientific articles, crafting opinion pieces for mass media, and developing strategies for publishing in reputable journals. Through training sessions, discussions, and hands-on practice, participants worked directly with mentors. The program aims not only to help lecturers produce high-quality written works but also to compete at national and international levels through publications in reputable journals.
UNDIP Vice Rector opened the event for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Public Communication, Wijayanto, S.IP., M.Si., Ph.D. In his remarks, he emphasized that writing is a strategic skill every academic must possess. “Writing is part of the process of building civilization. Writing Camp Batch 1 provides a public space for academics to fill the public sphere with innovation, positivity, and inspiration,” he said.
“Publishing in reputable journals, especially Scopus-indexed ones, also contributes to UNDIP’s standing as a world-class university,” Wijayanto, Ph.D. added. He expressed hope that the camp would not stop at training but lead to impactful publications, in line with the university’s tagline, “Noble and Valuable UNDIP.”
The UNDIP Writing Camp featured experienced young lecturers with an H-index above 10 in the fields of science and technology. An H-index of 10 indicates that a researcher has produced at least 10 scientific works, such as journal articles, each cited at least 10 times by other scholars. Participants gained insights into effective and engaging writing techniques as well as publication strategies.
By organizing UNDIP Writing Camp Batch 1, Universitas Diponegoro reaffirmed its commitment as an impactful institution contributing to the advancement of science and the development of literacy in society. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ Ut)
