UNDIP’s Agro Patriot Expedition: Collaboration Between UNDIP and the Ministry of Transmigration to Build Prosperity for All

UNDIP, Jakarta (August 24, 2025) – The Agroecotechnology Study Program of the Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences at Universitas Diponegoro (FPP UNDIP) joined the national Patriot Expedition, a program supported by the Ministry of Transmigration. The initiative highlights the collaboration between universities and the government to strengthen community welfare through the development of transmigration areas.

A total of 45 Agroecotechnology students and alumni, accompanied by 12 lecturers, were deployed to 12 strategic transmigration sites across Sumatera, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT). Their activities include mapping local potential, providing training on sustainable agricultural practices, and assisting communities in managing natural resources.

“Patriot Expedition proves the real contribution of universities to national development, while also supporting the Ministry of Transmigration’s strategic program to create self-reliant and prosperous regions,” said Prof. Ir. Didik Wisnu Widjajanto, M.ScRes., Ph.D., Chair of the Agroecotechnology Patriot Expedition at FPP UNDIP.

On the first day of the orientation program at Balai Kartini in Jakarta, a ministerial lecture was delivered by Dr. Idha Widi Arsanti, S.P., M.P., Head of the Agricultural Extension and Human Resources Development Agency (BPPSDMP) of the Ministry of Agriculture. This session was followed by Dr. Ir. Dadan Kusdiana, M.Sc., Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM); Drs. Nyoto Suwignyo, M.M., Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation of the National Nutrition Agency; Prof. Brian Yuliarto, Ph.D., Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology; and Prof. Dr. Dante Saksono Harbuwono, Sp.PD-KEMD, Ph.D., Deputy Minister of Health.

The comprehensive cross-sectoral presentations emphasized the importance of strengthening agricultural human resource capacity through extension and development to achieve food self-sufficiency. Dr. Dadan Kusdiana elaborated on the challenges and opportunities of sustainable energy in supporting national development through expanded access to electricity. Drs. Nyoto Suwignyo emphasized the importance of promotion and collaboration in enhancing community nutrition.

Prof. Brian Yuliarto outlined higher education, science, and technology policies to prepare an excellent and innovative generation. At the same time, Prof. Dante Saksono Harbuwono closed with a focus on national health issues and strategies to strengthen public health resilience. Together, the materials provided participants with a holistic understanding of the interconnectedness of food, energy, nutrition, education, technology, and health, serving as the foundation for sustainable development.
