UNDIP, Semarang (September 21, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) continues to take concrete steps in preparing graduates to compete in the global job market. From September 15 to 21, 2025, a UNDIP delegation led by Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si., Dean of the Vocational School, and Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, S.S., M.Hum., Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, conducted a working visit to Japan. The main agenda included signing cooperation agreements, holding strategic discussions, and monitoring UNDIP students interning at various partner companies in Japan.
The cooperation was formalized through agreements with Nansei Rakuen Resort and Seawood Hotel in Miyakojima on September 17, 2025. The session continued with Gifu Seki Country Golf Club in Gifu, Nagoya, on September 19, 2025. The agreements not only cover student internship placements but also prepare graduates to return and work professionally in Japan after completing their internships.
Every year, more than 100 UNDIP students join internship programs in Japan. They come from the Vocational School, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, and several other faculties. With these new agreements, UNDIP graduates now have broader opportunities to pursue careers in Japan.
Dean of UNDIP’s Vocational School, Prof. Budiyono, emphasized that this initiative aligns with UNDIP’s target to rank among the world’s top 500 universities in the QS World University Rankings by 2026, while also supporting the implementation of Ministry of Higher Education Regulation No. 39/2025 on Quality Assurance in Higher Education. “This cooperation with Japan is a concrete form of UNDIP’s commitment to preparing graduates who are competitive not only nationally but also internationally, through cross-border teaching factories, micro-credential programs, and international community engagement,” he said.
Dean of UNDIP’s Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Alamsyah, added that the partnership is equally crucial in equipping graduates with language, cultural, and global skills. “Students are not only trained in vocational expertise but also given cross-cultural understanding that will greatly benefit them when they return to work in Japan. FIB is committed to strengthening this synergy to enhance UNDIP’s global reputation,” he said.
The visit also followed up on UNDIP’s collaboration with the Ministry of Protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers (Kementerian Perlindungan Pekerja Migran Indonesia / KPPMI) in establishing the UNDIP Migrant Center (UMC). With Japan’s demand for Indonesian workers still very high, UNDIP plays a strategic role in preparing qualified, noble, and valuable human resources, aligned with the government’s Impactful Science and Technology Design (Diktisaintek Berdampak) program.
Through these achievements, UNDIP reaffirms its position as an adaptive and innovative university, paving the way for its graduates to succeed in the global job market. (Public Communication/UNDIP/SV & FIB Team)
