UNDIP’s Polytron Stadium Hosts Badminton Matches for POMNAS XIX 2025

UNDIP, Semarang (September 22, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has added another milestone to the history of Indonesian student sports with the presence of Polytron Stadium as one of the main venues for the 19th National Student Sports Week (POMNAS XIX) Jawa Tengah 2025. The prestigious nationwide collegiate event entrusted the badminton competition to be held at the state-of-the-art international-standard stadium located at UNDIP’s Tembalang Campus in Semarang.

Polytron Stadium was inaugurated on June 2, 2025, by UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., in conjunction with strategic partners, including the Djarum Foundation, Polytron, and iForte. More than just a sports facility, the stadium symbolizes UNDIP’s commitment to providing dignified and impactful platforms for student achievement and success.

The venue is equipped with five international-standard badminton courts, a spectator stand with a capacity of 300 people, accessible restrooms, an athlete’s lounge, office space, and a merchandise room. Its technical excellence lies in the court specifications—13.4 x 6.10 meters each—featuring a 100% PVC wear layer, stabilizing grid, fiberglass layer, decompression layer, and foam layer from Flypower. An iconic design element, a giant shuttlecock at the stadium’s entrance, greets athletes and fans alike, embodying speed, perseverance, and dedication.

The badminton competition at Polytron Stadium runs from September 19 to 26, 2025, featuring intense rivalries among provincial contingents. From the preliminary rounds to the finals, matches were marked by sportsmanship and vibrant crowd support.

As host, the Jawa Tengah contingent recorded commendable results. The women’s team defeated Banten 2–0, while the men’s team lost to Jakarta 0–2 in the opening round. The outcomes reflected a long journey of effort and determination.

Beyond team events, Jawa Tengah athletes also competed in the individual categories from September 23 to 26, 2025, including singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. The tightly contested matches offered a golden opportunity for young talents to prove themselves, sharpen their champion mentality, and test their resilience at the national level.

UNDIP’s success in presenting an international-standard stadium and hosting the badminton competition of POMNAS XIX Jawa Tengah 2025 underscores the university’s commitment to its tagline: “Noble and Valuable UNDIP.” Polytron Stadium stands as a source of pride for UNDIP’s academic community and a contribution to Indonesian sports, particularly in nurturing outstanding student athletes. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ DHW)
