UNDIP and KTAU Hold First Tennis Match to Strengthen Campus-Alumni Synergy

UNDIP, Semarang (September 28, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) and the UNDIP Alumni Tennis Community (KTAU) held their first “Friendly Tennis Match” at the UNDIP Rusunawa Tennis Court, Tembalang, Semarang, on Sunday, September 28, 2025. The event served as a networking forum to strengthen ties between UNDIP alumni tennis enthusiasts and the university’s academic community.

KTAU, founded on February 10, 2018, in Yogyakarta, is a platform for UNDIP alumni across generations who share an interest in tennis. The community aims to foster togetherness among members, expand networks, and promote a healthy lifestyle through sports.

Speaking before KTAU members, UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., said the university is committed to prioritizing the development of several key sports.

“UNDIP’s policy is to strengthen five sports—tennis, basketball, badminton, karate, and archery—which already have representative facilities. Starting this year and in the years ahead, we will focus on these five so that the athletes can achieve higher accomplishments,” Prof. Suharnomo said.

KTAU Chairman Wahyu Pamungkas, S.H., emphasized that the event was a meaningful opportunity for connection. “This is a great experience, and this joint tennis activity should continue as a means of building friendship and camaraderie, something KTAU has never done before. This event is a breakthrough for us,” Wahyu said.

UNDIP alumni in KTAU are also expected to contribute to developing tennis athletes who can excel in various competitions. KTAU itself has consistently secured first place for six consecutive years in inter-university tennis tournaments across Indonesia.

In the future, the friendly tennis match is expected to become a regular event, strengthening the synergy between alumni and the university while fostering sportsmanship and advancing sports potential at UNDIP to achieve greater accomplishments. (Public Communication/ UNDIP/ As & Indra)
