UNDIP Rector, A Grounded Leader Driving Vocational Education Forward

UNDIP, Semarang (October 13, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) celebrates its 68th Anniversary with a spirit of optimism. Under the leadership of a rector known for his humility, grounded approach, and close rapport with all levels of the academic community, UNDIP has achieved remarkable milestones both nationally and internationally.

The UNDIP Rector is recognized as a personable figure—approachable to students, lecturers, administrative staff, and external partners alike. His office doors are always open, aspirations are freely voiced, and even communication via social media is warmly welcomed. Beyond being religious and academic, the rector is also adept at utilizing popular digital platforms to bridge UNDIP with the younger generation.

“The tagline of ‘Noble and Valuable UNDIP’ is not just a slogan but a tangible principle embedded in every policy,” said Dean of the UNDIP Vocational School, Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si.

In a relatively short time, UNDIP’s achievements have been evident. Internationally, UNDIP has secured a place among the Top 600 universities worldwide in the QS World Ranking — a testament to the global recognition of its academic and research excellence. In the field of innovation, UNDIP has developed practical solutions for the nation, including seawater desalination machines for clean water supply, tidal flood mitigation technology along the northern coast of Java, and the D’Ozon system, which enhances environmental health quality.

National recognition has also followed, with Detik.com awarding the UNDIP Rector as the leader of an Accelerated Development Catalyst Campus,” acknowledging UNDIP’s vital role in advancing national progress.

A point of great pride for the Vocational School is the rector’s attention to strengthening vocational education. Various teaching factories have flourished, becoming campus icons — including VOCA Drinking Water, now distributed across UNDIP; an electric buggy car developed by vocational students and lecturers; and Vocalight, an innovative line of lamps and souvenirs. Furthermore, UNDIP established the Vocational Tax Center (VTC) as a hub for tax education and services, and Voca Link to connect vocational programs with the industrial sector.

The Vocational Migrant Center (VMC) was also launched to prepare prospective migrant workers, while the application of Building Information and Modelling (BIM) supports modern construction learning. Renewable energy innovation continues through biodiesel production from used cooking oil, and to enhance foreign language proficiency, the Vocational Language Center (VLC) was founded. The newest addition, the Investment Gallery, strengthens students’ financial literacy and links them with the capital market industry.

“Every time there’s an activity at the Vocational School, the Rector always makes time to attend, showing exceptional support and encouragement,” added Prof Budiyono.

Though only a year into his tenure, the UNDIP Rector’s lead has already set a new direction—humanistic, religious, academic, and innovative. UNDIP continues to advance rapidly while remaining deeply connected to the community it serves.

“On behalf of the entire Vocational School academic community, we express our highest appreciation. May this synergy continue to guide UNDIP to be ever more noble and valuable for the nation,” concluded Prof. Budiyono. (Public Communication/UNDIP/SV)
