Strategic Partnership Meeting Between UNDIP and Rembang Regency Government: Strengthening the Tri Dharma Through PSDKU Development

UNDIP, Semarang (October 16, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) held a strategic partnership meeting with the Rembang Regency Government to discuss the development of higher education in the region. The meeting, which took place at the Widya Puraya Building, UNDIP Tembalang, on Thursday, October 16, 2025, was led by the UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., and attended by the Regent of Rembang, H. Harno, S.E., along with his delegation.

As the largest university in Jawa Tengah, UNDIP operates Study Programs Outside the Main Campus (Program Studi di Luar Kampus Utama / PSDKU) located in Rembang, Batang, and Pekalongan Regencies. Currently, UNDIP’s Rembang PSDKU offers the D3 Management and S1 Public Administration programs. In strengthening the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, UNDIP continues to focus on the pillars of education and research, particularly through PSDKU development.

In his remarks, Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. emphasized that this visit reflects UNDIP’s commitment to enhancing synergy with regional governments, especially in the development of the UNDIP PSDKU Rembang Campus. “We have scheduled plans for campus facility and infrastructure development, the addition of new study programs, scholarship provision for Rembang’s local students, and the improvement of campus land boundaries,” he stated.

The UNDIP Rector also presented various campus innovations and flagship programs, including the establishment of a new study program—Fisheries and Marine Business Technology—under the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science. This program integrates business, technology, and marine aspects to produce graduates who are entrepreneurial and ready to lead the fisheries industry. Prof. Suharnomo reaffirmed his commitment, saying, “UNDIP provides free dormitory facilities for outstanding students who face financial challenges. We ensure access to quality education without burdening students.”

Rembang Regent H. Harno, S.E., expressed his appreciation for UNDIP’s efforts to expand access to higher education in the region, particularly in Rembang Regency. He explained, “The local government has prepared a redesigned layout for the PSDKU campus land to maximize its use, including the construction of a new 10-meter-wide access road and the provision of public spaces such as sports fields.”

The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Universitas Diponegoro and the Rembang Regency Government as a joint commitment to advancing education, research, and community service. This collaboration represents a concrete step toward equitable access to quality higher education and enhancing the competitiveness of regional human resources.

This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s program “Diktisaintek Berdampak” (Impactful Higher Education, Research, and Technology), and resonates with UNDIP’s tagline: “Noble and Valuable UNDIP.” The collaboration in strengthening the Tri Dharma of Higher Education also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) #4 Quality Education, #10 Reduced Inequalities, and #17 Partnerships for the Goals.
