UNDIP, Germany (October 11, 2025) – In celebration of the upcoming anniversary of Universitas Diponegoro’s Vocational School, exciting news comes from the Industrial Chemical Engineering Technology Study Program (TRKI). One of its lecturers, Anggun Puspitarini Siswanto, S.T., Ph.D., who is currently undertaking the Theodore von Kármán Fellowship at RWTH Aachen University, Germany (October 10–30, 2025), announced the signing of an Implementation of Arrangement between TRKI SV UNDIP and the Metallurgische Prozesstechnik und Metallrecycling, Institut und Lehrstuhl (IME) der RWTH Aachen University. This partnership further strengthens UNDIP’s internationalization efforts, not only at the study program level but also across the entire university.
Several collaborative activities have already been conducted between TRKI SV UNDIP and IME RWTH Aachen University, including the 2025 Summer Course, joint research collaborations, and visiting lectures. In the future, programs involving student, staff, and faculty exchanges are being prepared between the two institutions. The synergy between Chemical Engineering and Metallurgy further enhances the potential for industrial collaboration and innovation.
Germany, renowned for its technological advancement and world-class vocational education system, has long been a key international collaborator. The partnership between UNDIP’s Vocational School and the German government began in 2017 through the Senior Experten Service (SES) multiyear program. The SES initiative aims to send practitioners and lecturers from Germany to developing countries to share their expertise and experience gained from both domestic and international work. The program also includes curriculum discussions, which serve as a core foundation for student learning.
Collaboration with RWTH Aachen University officially began in December 2023, marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Indonesia and RWTH Aachen University, involving three top Indonesian universities: ITB, UNDIP, and UGM. The MoU’s implementation includes scholarship programs for young lecturers from the three universities to pursue doctoral studies in the field of Circular Economy.
As part of the scholarship program, a joint supervisory scheme is also carried out, where co-supervisors from the three Indonesian universities provide guidance together with professors at RWTH Aachen University. “It is a great honor for us at UNDIP Vocational School to support our Rector’s program in advancing UNDIP as a World-Class University,” Anggun said.
Hopefully, the collaboration with RWTH Aachen University — one of the world’s leading universities — will bring significant benefits to the academic community of the Industrial Chemical Engineering Study Program in particular, and Universitas Diponegoro in general,” said Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Si., Dean of UNDIP’s Vocational School. UNDIP, Noble and Valuable! (Public Communication / Vocational School / Anggun, Ed. Nurul)
