UNDIP, Semarang (October 25, 2025) – The Head of the Student Affairs Working Team of the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Sukino, S.Pd., M.A.P., officially opened the Pilmapres 2025 (Outstanding Student Competition). This prestigious annual event seeks Indonesia’s best students who excel academically, demonstrate leadership, and contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.
For the 2025 edition, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has been entrusted as the host. This year’s Pilmapres carries the theme “Shaping Excellent, Accomplished, and Impactful Generations for an Advanced Indonesia.”
The event, held at Prof. Sudarto, S.H. Building, UNDIP Tembalang Campus, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, was attended by the UNDIP Rector, university leaders, heads of LLDIKTI (Regional Higher Education Service Institutions), national judges, outstanding student finalists from across Indonesia, and guests.
In his remarks, Sukino stated that Pilmapres reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring a transparent, tiered, and fair selection process for outstanding students. He emphasized that the spirit of this competition aligns with the “Diktisaintek Berdampak” paradigm, which ensures that higher education policies and programs deliver tangible benefits to society, science, and national progress. “Pilmapres is not merely a competition, but a reflection of character building, creativity, and leadership among Indonesian students who are ready to provide real solutions to the challenges of our time,” he said.
Sukino also expressed appreciation to all members of the jury for their professionalism and integrity, as well as to university leaders who have guided their students to the national level. Furthermore, he conveyed his gratitude to Universitas Diponegoro for successfully hosting the event through strong, efficient, and innovative cross-unit collaboration. “We are truly grateful to UNDIP for the extraordinary collaboration. With the spirit of cooperation, this event has been a success despite limitations. This step is concrete proof that synergy between the ministry and universities can produce a meaningful impact,” he added.
He advised all finalists to view Pilmapres as a learning opportunity rather than merely a competition.
“Outstanding students are not only those who excel academically, but those who can turn knowledge into real benefit. Let this experience serve as a stepping stone to continue contributing to society, the nation, and the world,” he emphasized.
UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., warmly welcomed the student finalists and national judges of Pilmapres 2025. He expressed pride in UNDIP’s trust as host, highlighting the beauty and geographical diversity of Semarang City—from mountains to coastlines—as a reflection of Indonesia’s rich diversity. The Rector also underscored that hosting a national event like Pilmapres is part of the university’s tangible contribution to supporting the Diktisaintek Berdampak initiative.
In his report, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Ir. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T., Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at UNDIP and Chair of the 2025 Pilmapres Committee, stated that the competition involved 31 of Indonesia’s best students—15 undergraduate and 16 diploma participants—assessed by 23 national judges, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ir. Illah Sailah, M.S. from IPB University. Prof. Heru emphasized that Pilmapres is not only an award for achievements but also a platform to strengthen character, foster perseverance, and weave unity across the nation. He also expressed gratitude to all parties, including the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Diktisaintek), Directorate of Belmawa, and UNDIP’s Faculty of Humanities, for their exceptional collaboration and support in making the event a success.
