UNDIP, Semarang (November 6, 2025) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has once again achieved an outstanding accomplishment at the provincial level. Three UNDIP researchers were named recipients of the 2025 Jawa Tengah Development Research Award, organized by the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA) of Jawa Tengah Province on November 6, 2025.
This program serves as a form of appreciation for individual researchers, research groups, and industry practitioners who produce outstanding and relevant research works addressing regional development issues. Beyond recognition, the event also aims to bridge the academic and practical sectors, encouraging the implementation of evidence-based policy within local governments.
The award recipients from UNDIP are as follows:
- Dr. Fitriyono Ayustaningwarno, S.T.P., M.Si., with research titled “Composition of Minerals and Volatile Organic Components of Non-Centrifugal Cane Sugars from Japan and ASEAN Countries.”
- Prof. Dr. Widayat, S.T., M.T., with research titled “Halal Certification in Supporting Food Security in Jawa Tengah Province.”
- Sigit Febrianto, S.Kel., M.Si., with research titled “Machine Learning for Mangrove Species Distribution Using Sentinel 2 Satellite Image in Segara Anakan, Cilacap Region, Indonesia.”
The three successfully passed a rigorous selection process from dozens of research works submitted by various educational institutions and research agencies across Jawa Tengah. According to BRIDA’s official announcement, only twelve of the best research papers qualified after going through stages of verification, technical assessment, presentation, and interviews before the panel of judges.
This achievement reaffirms UNDIP’s concrete contribution to producing research that excels academically while providing tangible benefits for regional development. “This accomplishment shows how research at UNDIP can bridge academia and public policy through an evidence-based approach,” said a BRIDA representative in the award ceremony.
In 2025, the award adopted five strategic themes:
- Integrity-Based and Dynamic Governance
- Competitive Economic Growth
- Inclusive and Sustainable Regional Development
- Socio-Cultural Development
- Education and Employment Development
The participating research works were scientific publications (journals or proceedings) published between 2022 and 2025, focusing on research in Jawa Tengah Province. The ten best awardees are required to prepare a Policy Brief in collaboration with BRIDA and the judging panel as a direct contribution to regional policymaking.
Through this recognition, UNDIP reaffirms its role as a research-oriented university committed to promoting societal well-being. The innovations and discoveries of its researchers stand as evidence of UNDIP’s commitment to supporting sustainable, inclusive, and competitive development in Jawa Tengah, in line with the spirit of “Noble and Valuable UNDIP.” (Public Communication/UNDIP/Fitriyono A, ed.
