UNDIP Wins 5 Awards at the 2025 Indonesian Boat Contest (KKI)

UNDIP, Malang (December 9, 2025) Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) is firmly committed to advancing maritime technology in Indonesia, with impressive results. UNDIP successfully brought home five awards from the prestigious 2025 Indonesian Boat Contest (Kontes Kapal Indonesia / KKI), held at the UMM Dome, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

The national competition, which involved 110 teams from 51 universities, ran from December 4–7 and served as a platform for students to showcase creativity in ship technology development through structural engineering and innovation.

UNDIP’s achievements this year were contributed to by three team clusters: Aterkia Team in the Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) division, Ekalawya Team in the design and construction innovation division, and the competitive participation of Hydrotech (Lembuswana) Team in the Remote Control category. These accomplishments also highlight the depth of research and multidisciplinary collaboration among UNDIP students in responding to today’s maritime technology challenges.

In the ASV category, Aterkia Team stood out with their flagship autonomous vessel, Aterolas. Under the supervision of Rofiq Cahyo Prayogo, S.T., M.T., the team secured two awards:

  1. 1st Place – Fun Race Category
  2. 2nd Runner-Up – Main ASV Category

Aterolas completed a series of technical missions, including autonomous navigation, image processing (vision system), and real-time monitoring. This impressive performance was the result of collaboration among students from multiple disciplines: Janitra Bintoro Putera, Abraham, Dita Rahmadhani (Electrical Engineering 2022–2023), and Satria Wasis Sahari and Arifiyanto Nova Ramadhan (Naval Architecture 2022–2023).

UNDIP’s achievements were further strengthened by the success of three teams under the Ekalawya banner, which swept titles in the design and innovation division:

  1. 1st Place of Machinery and Electrical System Innovation (ISPK) achieved by Ekalawya-2 Teamwith the ship design KM. Lestari Nusantara
  2. 2nd Place of Design and Construction Innovation (IDK) achieved by Ekalawya-1 Team with the ship design KMP. Bhaskara
  3. 1st Runner-Up of Special Equipment Innovation (IPK) achieved by Ekalawya-3 Team with the innovation KMP. Parakarta

Design concepts, structural reinforcement, and the integration of modern electrical technology were the main strengths of UNDIP students’ works in these three categories.

In addition to the award-winning teams, the Hydrotech (Lembuswana) Team also contributed by representing UNDIP in the Remote Control category with solid performances through their vessels KM Diposura and KM Mursala. These achievements further reflect UNDIP’s consistency in preparing talent ready to compete across various ship competition classes.

UNDIP’s Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr.rer.nat. Ir. Heru Susanto, S.T., M.M., M.T., expressed appreciation for this remarkable achievement and emphasized the importance of sustaining student development programs.

“Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for the achievements of UNDIP’s delegation in KKI this year. Hopefully, these accomplishments will continue to improve in the future. God willing, we will coordinate with the Faculty of Engineering to strengthen the management of KKI activities for better optimization. Thank you to the faculty advisors, task force, students, and everyone who has worked hard,” said Prof. Heru.

This success demonstrates UNDIP’s commitment to supporting the development of maritime technology innovation by preparing outstanding talent ready to contribute to national progress and compete at both the national and global levels. (Public Communication/UNDIP/KKI 2025 Delegation Team; ed. DHW)
