UNDIP Rector Dispatches 16 Multidisciplinary Medical Volunteer Teams to Sumatra

UNDIP, Semarang (December 24, 2025) – Despite the extended holiday period, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) once again deployed the fourth batch of the Diponegoro Disaster Assistance Response Team (D-DART) to flood-affected areas in Sumatra. This deployment consists of multidisciplinary medical and paramedical volunteers who support the recovery of health in disaster-affected communities.

The departure took place on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, from the courtyard of Widya Puraya Building, UNDIP, and was officially inaugurated by the UNDIP Rector, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. The D-DART team, coordinated by the Disaster Management Center of UNDIP’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), comprises 16 multidisciplinary medical and paramedical personnel who will reinforce healthcare services and community assistance in West Sumatra. This fourth batch complements UNDIP’s previous humanitarian missions, which had already deployed medical and nutrition teams, as well as supporting equipment such as water purification machines, which are currently operating in affected areas.

In his address, the Rector expressed gratitude and appreciation to all volunteers and supporting units—particularly LPPM, the Faculty of Medicine, and RSND—for their swift response and consistent commitment to humanitarian missions. He emphasized that the deployment reflects UNDIP’s empathy and solidarity with communities affected by disasters.

“UNDIP’s presence may not resolve all problems, but it represents care, support, and empathy. Any form of assistance, no matter how small, will be highly meaningful for those in need,” he stated.

He further stressed the importance of maintaining coordination with local governments and stakeholders to ensure that assistance is targeted correctly. He also reminded all volunteers to maintain their health and integrity, uphold UNDIP’s dignity while on duty, and document all community service activities as a form of public accountability.

“As a public university, everything we do must be openly accountable. Take care of yourselves, maintain your health, and uphold UNDIP’s dignity wherever you are. May this service always bring benefits to our brothers and sisters in Sumatra,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the volunteers, dr. Yuli Trisetiyono, Sp.OG, KFER, explained that the fourth D-DART volunteer team is a multidisciplinary unit focused on the initial health recovery of disaster-affected communities in West Sumatra.

“We are departing with personnel from various fields, ranging from obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, and psychiatry, to reach still-isolated areas. Over the next approximately five days, the team will provide healthcare services, particularly assistance to pregnant women and treatment of post-disaster illnesses. This mission reflects the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and UNDIP’s commitment to serving with dignity and providing direct benefits to the community,” he explained.

The fourth D-DART volunteer team includes: dr. Afrina Yanti, Sp.THTBKL; dr. Yuli Trisetiyono, Sp.OG, KFER; dr. Muhammad Satya Arrif Zulhani (Psychiatry Resident); dr. Dedeh Koesmiyati (Obstetrics and Gynecology Resident); dr. Nadhifa (Obstetrics and Gynecology Resident); dr. Debby Nirma Sari Sejahtera (Obstetrics and Gynecology Resident); dr. Cornelius Anggi Novatriyanto (Obstetrics and Gynecology Resident); dr. Sabila (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Resident); dr. Yusril (Internal Medicine Resident); and dr. Raras (Internal Medicine Resident).

The deployment of this fourth D-DART volunteer team further affirms UNDIP’s consistent, sustainable response to disasters. Through cross-faculty collaboration and alumni support, UNDIP continues to serve not only as an educational institution but also as a humanitarian partner committed to sharing, strengthening, and standing with the nation—especially in times of need. Carrying the spirit of ‘Noble and Valuable UNDIP’, the volunteers were dispatched to serve with messages of empathy, solidarity, and commitment that UNDIP is always present for the nation.
