The CWTS Leiden Ranking is an internationally recognized university ranking that objectively evaluates research performance based on scientific publication data. Unlike rankings that rely on reputation surveys or self-reported institutional data, the Leiden Ranking uses independently collected and verifiable bibliometric data, ensuring transparency and methodological rigor.
The Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., welcomed the achievement as a confirmation of UNDIP’s position as a research university that continues to strengthen its international competitiveness. According to him, UNDIP’s standing in the Leiden Ranking demonstrates that its research is developing with integrity, relevance, and societal benefit. He reaffirmed UNDIP’s commitment to fostering a strong academic culture, promoting downstreaming of research, and delivering tangible scientific contributions to sustainable development and community welfare.
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector IV for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and Public Communication, Wijayanto, Ph.D., stated that UNDIP’s 6th national ranking in the CWTS Leiden Ranking Open Edition 2025 is the result of consistent efforts to strengthen research policies and build sustainable international collaborations. He emphasized that the Leiden Ranking—based on objective, transparent scientific publication data—reflects the collective contribution of UNDIP’s academic community in producing research that excels not only in quantity but also in quality, impact, and global relevance.
In the 2025 Open Edition, the Leiden Ranking used open data from OpenAlex to provide fully transparent information on the scientific performance of more than 2,800 universities worldwide. The broader coverage and inclusion of diverse publication types have intensified competition, making the ranking results increasingly meaningful.
UNDIP’s achievement in the 2025 Leiden Ranking reflects the sustained contributions of its academic community in producing high-quality research with real impact on the advancement of science and society. This accomplishment further strengthens UNDIP’s reputation as a research-based university committed to academic excellence, transparency, and global engagement.
