UNDIP, Semarang (3/2) – The Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (FK UNDIP) has established a strategic collaboration with Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Walisongo Semarang in the form of mentoring support for the development of its Faculty of Medicine on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. This collaboration aims to strengthen the quality of medical education, enhance institutional capacity, and support the fulfillment of equitable and high-quality medical workforce needs in Indonesia.
As the mentoring institution, the Faculty of Medicine at UNDIP provides comprehensive academic and technical support, including curriculum development, learning methodologies, administrative governance, and human resource capacity building. The mentoring program is also implemented through the temporary assignment of lecturers in the fields of Anatomy, Histology, and Forensic Medicine, training for standardized patients, clinical teaching training, technical training in medical education, as well as training and examiner preparation for the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) in collaboration with the Association of Indonesian Medical Education Institutions (AIPKI). In addition, UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine supports UIN Walisongo’s readiness in undergoing the initial accreditation process for its medical study program.
The Dean of UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. dr. Yan Wisnu Prajoko, M.Kes., Sp.B., Subsp.Onk(K) emphasized that the role of higher education institutions goes beyond producing medical graduates; it also includes ensuring the quality and relevance of competencies and making tangible contributions to strengthening the national health system. Therefore, synergy and inter-institutional collaboration are key to building sustainable, nationally standardized medical education.
This collaboration also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through the strengthening of health systems and the provision of competent medical personnel, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through improved learning quality and faculty capacity, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strategic collaboration among higher education institutions in institutional development.
Through this initiative, UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine and UIN Walisongo are committed to building an excellent, adaptive, and accountable medical education ecosystem that delivers tangible impact in improving the health status of the Indonesian population.
