Industrial Engineering Student, Ni Wayan Sriyanti, Represents UNDIP at the PILMAPRES 2026

UNDIP, Semarang (19/05) – Universitas Diponegoro students continue to demonstrate outstanding achievements through the accomplishments of Ni Wayan Sriyanti, a 2023 Industrial Engineering student from the Faculty of Engineering, who was selected as a participant in the Central Java PILMAPRES 2026 (Pemilihan Mahasiswa Berprestasi / Regional Outstanding Student for Undergraduate Programs). This achievement reflects UNDIP’s consistent commitment to nurturing young talents who excel not only academically but also contribute meaningfully to society.

Sriyanti, affectionately known as Atik, began her journey at UNDIP through the Outstanding Talent Admission Selection (SBUB) for the Scientific Work pathway. Since the beginning of her studies, she has been introduced to various achievement-oriented ecosystems, including the Student Creativity Program (PKM), the National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS), and the Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW). This supportive environment fostered her passion for competing and for continuously developing her potential.

Amid her busy academic life, Atik also serves as a laboratory assistant at the Management and Entrepreneurship Studio. In addition, she initiated and manages the Cening Community, which focuses on empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Through this initiative, she encourages small business owners to adapt to business dynamics while improving financial literacy, particularly among young people vulnerable to online gambling and illegal online lending.

Her track record of achievements is highly impressive. In 2024, she became a finalist at PIMNAS in the Creative Initiative (Karsa Cipta / KC) category. Continuing her success, in 2025, she won 1st Place in the International Industrial Design and Seminar Competition organized by the UNDIP Industrial Engineering Program. Her international experience expanded further when she presented her research at the Youth Leader Exchange and Conference in Thailand in February 2026.

Atik’s role extends beyond being a competition participant; she is also a mentor. Since 2025, she has been a mentor for international competitions organized by the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas). Her contributions became evident when she successfully guided the Indonesian delegation to win a silver medal in 2025, following her own gold medal at the Young Inventor Challenge in Malaysia in 2023.

For Atik, achievement is not merely about collecting awards, but about how far others can feel the impact. This principle is reflected in the various initiatives she undertakes, ranging from innovative research to community empowerment. She believes that the greater the impact of an innovation, the broader its benefits for universities, society, and the government.

Her journey toward PILMAPRES 2026 was far from easy. The greatest challenge came from balancing intensive engineering coursework, assignments, laboratory reports, and projects with organizational activities and the preparation of competition materials and evaluation documents. Although she initially never imagined reaching the regional level, feelings of gratitude and pride became her motivation to continue moving forward.

“I never expected to become an Outstanding Student at the regional level. I feel happy and proud. All of this is thanks to the support of UNDIP, my parents, friends, and everyone around me,” she shared.

Atik also emphasized the importance of a supportive academic environment. She experienced active involvement from lecturers and the study program, who consistently provided guidance, assistance, and facilities throughout her journey. This support enabled her to grow confidently without feeling left behind, while strengthening her self-confidence as she faced various competitions.

Coming from a modest background did not stop Atik from pursuing success. Armed with courage, determination, and intellectual capability, she strives to build a better future. Support from the Indonesia Maju Scholarship, provided by Puspresnas, was also a crucial factor that enabled her to focus on self-development and achievement.

Her numerous competitive experiences have shaped her resilience and broadened her perspective. Interactions with participants from various regions and professional networks opened significant opportunities for her future while sharpening skills and knowledge relevant to the professional world. Closing her reflection, Atik shared a message for UNDIP students and Indonesian youth, “Use up your quota of failures, and enjoy your network of success.” For Atik, failure is an inseparable part of the journey toward success. “Do not be afraid to fail, because beautiful success awaits you,” she concluded.
