UNDIP, Semarang (7/7) – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) was trusted to host the Pop Singing Competition in the 2026 Central Java Regional Student Arts Week (Pekan Seni Mahasiswa Daerah / PEKSIMIDA). The competition, which took place at the UNDIP Art Center on July 7th–9th, 2026, was attended by 67 best students from various universities in Central Java who competed for tickets to the XVIII National Student Arts Week (Pekan Seni Mahasiswa Nasional / PEKSIMINAS) 2026.
The Pop Singing Competition was held by the Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni of UNDIP as the organizing committee for the 2026 PEKSIMIDA Central Java Pop Singing Competition. The activity began on Tuesday, July 7th, 2026 with participant registration, a technical meeting, and taking the basic notes. Continued on Wednesday–Thursday, July 8th–9th, 2026, the opening as well as the men’s & women’s pop singing competitions were held.
A total of 67 participants took part in the competition, consisting of 28 male participants and 39 female participants from 41 state and private universities across Central Java. Each participant performed two songs: one compulsory song and one chosen by the committee. The repertoire was selected from the works of Indonesian singers and songwriters, such as Glenn Fredly, Judika, Kerispatih, Krisdayanti, Rossa, Raisa, Lyodra, Andmesh, Afgan, and Tulus.

The judging panel consisted of three judges from university academics, professionals, and music practitioners. The judges assessed vocal quality, singing technique, song expression, interpretation, and stage presence.
The first place winners in the male and female categories will represent the Indonesian Student Arts Advisory Board (Badan Pembina Seni Mahasiswa Indonesia / BPSMI) of Central Java Province at the “2026 XVIII National Student Arts Week (PEKSIMINAS)” which will be held on September 8th–12th, 2026 at the Universitas Jember, East Java.
PEKSIMIDA is a development and selection event for outstanding students in the arts organized by the Indonesian Student Arts Advisory Board (BPSMI) of Central Java Province. This event provides a platform for students to develop their creativity, appreciation, and achievements in the arts, while also preparing the best delegates from Central Java for national-level competitions.
Overall, 780 students from 57 universities in Central Java participated in the 2026 Central Java PEKSIMIDA. Participants competed in 20 arts categories held at several universities designated as hosts. The trust placed in UNDIP as the host of the pop singing competition demonstrates the university’s commitment to supporting the development of student talent, creativity, and achievement, while strengthening the role of universities as a space for the growth of a quality arts and cultural ecosystem.
