UNDIP, Semarang (29/7) – A simple act of kindness can change the course of a person’s life. For Pinkan Amalia Marzanda, a graduate of the Bachelor of Pharmacy Program at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), receiving help from others during her life became the inspiration behind a lifelong aspiration: to dedicate herself to helping others through healthcare.
This determination led her to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at UNDIP’s Faculty of Medicine. For Pinkan, a career in pharmacy is more than just a profession—it is a meaningful path to creating a positive impact on society.
Pinkan’s journey to graduation was far from easy. Throughout her studies, she faced demanding coursework, intensive laboratory sessions, and numerous assignments requiring precision and consistency. According to her, Pharmacy students cannot rely on last-minute studying. Success can only be achieved through disciplined learning, effective time management, and a commitment to continuous self-improvement.
Despite the rigorous academic demands, Pinkan did not limit herself to classroom activities. She actively participated in student organizations to support her personal development. These experiences strengthened her leadership, communication, teamwork, and social awareness—qualities that are essential for future healthcare professionals.
Behind her academic achievements was invaluable support. As a recipient of the Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP-K) Scholarship, Pinkan experienced firsthand the government’s and Universitas Diponegoro’s commitment to expanding access to quality higher education for high-achieving students from economically disadvantaged families.
Through the KIP-K Scholarship, she was able to focus fully on her studies without the burden of tuition fees. She made the most of this opportunity, completing her education and graduating cum laude.
For Pinkan, the scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It is a vote of confidence that should be repaid through academic excellence, responsibility, and a commitment to making a positive contribution to society.
After completing her Bachelor’s degree, Pinkan plans to continue her education in the Pharmacist Professional Program. She aims to develop her expertise further to provide professional pharmaceutical services with integrity while prioritizing patient safety and public health.
Pinkan’s story demonstrates how access to education can create life-changing opportunities. Through hard work, perseverance, and the right support, financial limitations need not become barriers to achievement. Raised in a financially disadvantaged family, Pinkan was brought up by her single mother, who runs a small laundry business to support the household. Because her mother’s income was limited, the family also relied on assistance from relatives to meet their daily needs.
Universitas Diponegoro remains committed to providing inclusive education through various support programs, including the KIP-K Scholarship, ensuring that more young Indonesians have the opportunity to develop their full potential and contribute to the nation. At UNDIP, no student should have to discontinue their education because of financial constraints.
According to Pinkan, her greatest aspiration is not merely to earn a degree or achieve academic success. More importantly, she hopes to become someone who brings value to others. Having once experienced the kindness and support of others herself, she now wants to become a source of hope and assistance for those in need. (Public Communication/UNDIP/Ut)
