UNDIP, Semarang (17/7) – The Faculty of Animal and Agricultural Sciences at Universitas Diponegoro (FPP UNDIP) is accepting new students for the Master of Food Science Program for the 2026/2027 Academic Year. Registration will be open from July 14th to 21st, 2026, followed by a computer-based exam on July 22nd, 2026, for graduates from various fields relevant to food issues and topics.
This program is designed to produce graduates who are able to address the challenges of modern food systems through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates food science, sustainability, and data science with support from a consortium of several universities in Europe and Central Java through the project “Enhancing Higher Education Capacity for Sustainable Data-Driven Food Systems in Indonesia” – FIND4S.
The Master of Food Science program at FPP UNDIP offers two study schemes: By Course and By Research, allowing prospective students to choose the pathway that best aligns with their career goals and academic development. The By Course pathway is intended for professionals, industry practitioners, civil servants, and recent graduates who want to strengthen their competencies through structured learning with a variety of cutting-edge courses. Meanwhile, the By Research pathway is intended for students who want to focus on research from the beginning of their studies and prepare themselves to become researchers or continue their doctoral studies.
The curriculum for the Master of Food Science Program at FPP UNDIP is designed to meet the needs of the ever-growing food industry. According to the Head of Study Program:
“The food industry today requires human resources who not only understand food science but are also able to apply sustainability principles and utilize data for decision-making. These competencies are one of the key strengths of our program,” he explained.
In this program, students will study various strategic topics such as:
- Sustainable Food System
- Digital Innovation for Food Problems
- Data Science for Food Research and Industry
- Molecular Food Chemistry and Biochemistry
- Advanced Food Microbiology
- Food Process Engineering
- Food Nutrition and Metabolism
- Molecular Food Biotechnology
The lectures are designed flexibly so that they can be attended by students and working professionals, with the support of digital technology-based learning, industry case studies, seminars, and research collaborations.
Students will also have the opportunity to conduct research with lecturers who are actively involved in various collaborations with various national and international universities and research institutions, both governmental and non-governmental, in the areas of food, food safety, processing technology, functional foods, and sustainable food systems. In addition to research, students will have the opportunity for internships and student mobility at partner institutions and universities.
