UNDIP, Semarang (11/9) – The Department of Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), held the “8th International Conference on Environment, Sustainability Issues, and Community Development” (INCRID) 2026 on Tuesday (September 9, 2026) at the Engineering Hall, Prof. Ir. Eko Budihardjo Building, M.Sc., fifth floor, UNDIP Tembalang Campus.
Under the theme “Accelerating Circular Economy and Climate Resilience through Environmental Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Transformation,” the conference brought together academics, practitioners, and students to discuss the latest technological developments in supporting climate resilience and the circular economy.
Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering at UNDIP, Dr. Ir. Budi Prasetyo Samadikun, S.T., M.Si., IPU., ASEAN Eng., emphasized the importance of technological development and cross-sector collaboration in addressing today’s environmental challenges. “Environmental challenges are becoming increasingly complex. Addressing these issues requires not only technological solutions, but also strong collaboration, robust environmental governance, and commitment from policymakers,” he said.
He said INCRID serves as a platform for developing innovative solutions to promote environmental sustainability. “Through INCRID 2026, we hope to encourage meaningful discussions, share potential collaborations, and generate major ideas that can contribute to a more sustainable future,” he added.
The conference featured five keynote speakers: Asih Budiati, B.E., MBA., M.Sc., Team Leader of the ASEAN-EU Green Partnership; Richao Chong, Ph.D., from Wakayama University; Dr. John Bosco Niyomukiza from Soroti University; Dr. Ir. Haryono Setiyo Huboyo, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., from Universitas Diponegoro; and Prof. Sadhan Kumar Ghosh of the International Society of Waste Management, Air and Water.
In addition to panel discussions, the conference featured parallel sessions covering six topics: Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Science and Technology, Green Infrastructure, Energy Conservation and Efficiency, Urban Development and Resilient Community, and Sustainable Development.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamari, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., welcomed the conference and expressed hope that it would generate new ideas for building a better future. “Through this forum, we hope to promote in-depth knowledge exchange, build strong international research networks, and generate innovative ideas that can be implemented for a better future for our planet,” he said.
Echoing Prof. Jamari, Director of Reputation, Partnerships and Global Connectivity at UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hadiyanto, S.T., M.Sc., IPU, expressed hope that INCRID would encourage high-quality scientific publications with significant societal impact.
“Universitas Diponegoro is committed to sustainability, environmental research and innovation, as well as community empowerment. I encourage all of us to see INCRID not only as an annual conference, but as part of our collective efforts to strengthen these commitments,” he concluded.
